Wang says: "i am boycotting Shatner"

wow this is serious...i dont understand did something personnel happened between them? so much hatred lol

Eh...Shatner's in his 80s, no big surprise his wang is boycotting, a little Viagra and a few TOS mini-skirted Guest Star pictures oughta fix him right up

Oh...wait... <Sindatur re-reads thread title>...Nevermind

Very funny! Thank you for bringing some humor and originality to the topic.

Well, that's nice - Wang is boycotting Shatner. I suppose it really doesn't matter because it would appear - at least since Voyager has been off the air - that the population in general has been boycotting Wang and has continued to feed Shatner.

Oh I think it's hilarious! And I doubt that Wang is going to say "oh no thanks Comic Con, not going to come and accept that fee because you have me on the same stage as Shatner". It's such an empty stance to take, LOL.

Is this another attempt at drumming up publicity like when Wang posted the 7of9-Kim love child question?

If Wang want to stop watching Shatner on TV, more power to him.

And it's nice to see that Wang can afford a TV from his wages down at the Taco Hut.

:lol::lol::lol:

Sounds like Wang is doing a little of what Takei did years ago... until Takei wised up that there's no point in carrying a grudge. Move on. But... Wang has absolutely no clout in this. He didn't work with Shatner. He's got no claim of justification for boycotting him, whatever that really means. All it does is make Wang look like a wanker.

I like Shatner on his show Shatner's Raw Nerve. He has had Leonard Nimoy, LaVar Burton, Scott Bakula and Walter Koening. Good stuff.
Maybe he's mad he was never invited to do an interview? LOL Who knows, he was probably treated badly or had a bad joke said about him but you know what, sometimes you just gotta let it go!

Somehow I doubt that Shatner even knows who Garrett Wang is. There are so many Next Gen actors, I'm sure Shatner met many of them but how could you even remember/care about them all?

Good point about those Takei days. He got classy.

And not just Trekkers. He's had Drew carey, Carol Burnet, Gene Simmons.

Really? He was still moaning about Shatner as of 2011.

As for the person asking what happened between Shatner and Wang.

FROM WANG'S PERSPECTIVE (i.e. we only have his word that this is what happened):

They were backstage at a convention, and Garrett Wang tried to shake Shatner's hand and say something like "great admirer, real honour to meet you" etc. Wang complained that Shatner did not give him a proper handshake (just "lightly" touching his fingers) and then, proceeded to wipe his hand on his clothing afterward.

Did this happen? Is Wang interpreting and reading too much into it? Is he just a perpetual loser?

You decide!

This just in! Garret Wang states on his Facebook page:

" i am boycotting Shatner...i say again, i am a fan of Captain Kirk and not of William Shatner. He has been far too rude over the years to other Trek actors, myself included, and fans alike. Leonard Nimoy announced his retirement from attending cons in a tearful farewell at the Vegas Con last year. I wish it was Shatner who retired and Nimoy who continued to grace us with his presence."
So, what would "boycotting Shatner" actually mean? Not sitting on the same stage at conventions with him? Not watching Boston Legal? Never ever buying anything from Priceline?

I'm a big boycotter myself. I am constantly boycotting shops, companies, Treklit.. I like boycotting because I can then announce to folks "I am boycotting X" and then of course they have to ask "Why" and presto, I have a soapbox to rant from. It's very good if you like to rant and need to find a way to drop your rant into conversation. Which is pretty much how this gem appeared in a completely unrelated conversation on Wang's FB page. Someone mentions Denny Crane and BOOM the boycott soapbox.

Garret, in the words of Shatner, 'Get a Life'.

perhaps Shatner is a germophobe or simply doesn't like to shake hands? I don't know, Shatner has a reputation that he can be kind of a jerk.

This "boycott" still comes across as very funny though, considering the level of difference in their respective fame and popularity. As someone else pointed out, Shatner might not even remember who Wang is.

It's like that old joke about a guy who defined himself as someone's "arch-nemesis," and the other guy doesn't know he exists.

"Mr. Shatner, what's your opinion on Garret Wang's boycott of you?"

Shatner: "Who?"

I'm as outraged as Wang. You mean Shatner wasn't ecstatic and overwhelmed to be finally meeting THE Garrett Wang, portrayer of the iconic Harry Kim?

Oh yeah I knew that, I just mentioned the ST stars. He makes it interesting to watch, not your normal questions and he makes them very relaxed. I watch it even if I don't like the actor because he does a great interview.

I enjoy Shatner when he is on-camera or working in general. He is charming, funny, and entertaining. However, he has shown a less pleasant aspect of his personality over the years.

Those who have experienced that aspect in person must be a bit put out over all the adoration Shatner receives.

People who feel slighted or hard-done-by often vocalize their experiences, often just to say something like "hey, you don't see the whole picture here". I don't think they expect to change your opinion, just that there is another side.

I don't like Shatner myself, but I can appreciate some of his performances. What others have said doesn't change my ability to enjoy a show, so I don't think they should have to edit what happened to them just because the public may not want to hear it.

Just my opinion...to each their own!
