Walter Koenig on Shat's Raw Nerve

Shit can't delete posts.

Uh... I'm shocked he aged so... badly. He always had that eternal youth thing going on.

Looks pretty good for 75. Especially in his baseball cap.

You've managed to compress a few generations in there. Yes, the first wave of ST fans were often university students who watched TOS in their dorm rooms, but TOS also attracted lots of young mothers at home. When TOS moved to syndicated, stripped, early prime time slots in the 70s, it suddenly attracted young families. Lots of 'em. About the same time, Saturday morning animation had TAS, and a new batch of fans was born.

Agreed, I think Dusty has a rather distorted view of how old Trek fans would have been. I was in primary school in the 70s watching the show in syndication. It's very much possible that one of my peers or someone a little older could have been in that SNL con audience. And there are indeed socially awkward sci-fi fans or I reckon you just don't circulate enough with them.

I happened to think that sketch was hilarious and so did friends who were Trek fans. Seems a bit odd that people were offended by that, but maybe it was because we were in high school and not living in our parents basements and analysing Star Trek all day.

My second or third time at a convention I was wearing a TNG uniform (captain pips of course). I was in the dealers room waiting for my Mom to get out of the bathroom (I was around 9-10 at the time) when all of a sudden I was thrown up on. A coat of puke all over the back of my uniform. The douchbag didn't even apologize.

I'm sorry ;)
