True, the Fox comedy Last Man On Earth does a better job addressing some of those issues.

True, the Fox comedy Last Man On Earth does a better job addressing some of those issues.
Walking dead ratings notching up - three straight weeks of slight increases. Looks like the bleeding has been stopped, but the real test will be whether they get their usual massive ratings bump for the season finale, and whether people return for next season's premiere.
The tainted weaponry thing sort of bugs me in how it was handled.
I can "deal" with the fact that all of this time no one has worried about walker gore getting on them, we've seen people cover themselves in it been close to splatter where it likely would've gotten into mouths, eyes, or wounds with no problem. But, fine, that's all different than being hit by an arrow tainted in walker guts and having it penetrate deeply getting the taintedness inside you.
But it seems like everyone died within a few hours without showing any of the signs of an infection like with a bite. We see Carol's beau breathing fairly normally in his sleep and he just... stops. You're telling me all of these people just "died" in the middle of the night without going through the entire sickness? Jadis: every moment of her not acting as if she's suffered a botched lobotomy is refreshing, her connection to the helicopter group is the most intriguing development this season. Setting Negan free? Idiot move, but it had to happen (obviously) for the expected Negan vs Simon end of the plot.
Daryl pushing the needle on the stupid meter, even when he knows Dwight spared Tara with the clean arrow.
As usual, Michonne is the most sympathetic character on the series, as she's really feeling the loss of Carl and trying to live up to his vision of the future. Of course, Rick was too single minded to allow his mind to go to that same place so soon.
Speaking of Carl, at the moment series drops the ball with Enid, who lost the only other person she truly bonded with (aside from Maggie), yet she's not really showing the full, emotional impact of Carl's death. Yes. people grieve in different ways, and being a teenager, she might be quick to anger, but for all of their build up, her reactions are not what it should be.
Morgan and Rick turning the tables on their...Saviors...was pretty raw, along with Morgan's face-to-face with the dying Jared. Its too bad Morgan is being shipped off to FTWD, just as Carol and Rick both reminded Morgan that he's saved both (and is not just an observing killer). His "don't ever be sorry" to Henry was a callback to what he said to Carl in "Clear".
I thought Negan''s mystery passenger has to be Laura (the blonde Savior who shot Dwight). With only a couple of episodes left in the season, she would be the explosive threat for Dwight.

Jadis is seriously screwed in the head after what the Saviors did to her people. Why she let Negan live, and leave...who knows. But now that Negan has evidence that Simon cannot be trusted, and won't be too happy about Simon attacking the Hilltop either, especially with the losses they took.
So Negan has seen the helicopter now too...so is this how Morgan ends up on the western side if the U.S.? Only thing that makes sense, by foot would take a long time, car would be difficult since a lot of the main highways, and interstates are probably just blocked with abandoned cars etc. Still, a trek across America during a zombie apocalypse would be interesting.
Rick and Morgan killing the Saviors was a bummer, was hoping it would be a turning point - those Saviors incorpotating into Rick's group, and would be able to work and live without fear of punishment from a bat or iron. But..I dunno, guess Rick is still in rage mode. I can understand Morgan killing them, cause the dude is just psycho, but still. Rick must know, even without reading that letter from Carl, that Carl wouldn't have wanted that kind of brutal retaliation.

Yeah Rick is pretty much the villain now. Killing a guy that just saved him is pure murder especially when he got him in the back of the neck like that. No longer retaliation just pure murder. The character of Rick is actually just as bad as the governor now. No redeeming qualities left.
I wish they had showed Jadis climb down into her wooden retreat through a trash can like Oscar the Grouch.
Hey, I said that about Rick's back-breaking car hit on officer Bob (season five's "Coda"), then shooting him in the head (when he could have bumped him with the car--the same way the other cops caught Noah), but no one seemed to have a problem with Rick's unnecessary brutality. That's the reason he's always clashed (to one degree or another) with the advocates of peace, not realizing (or caring) that he's just another version of The Governor and/or Negan--the only difference is that he's the only one of the three that actually believes he's serving the greater good.

I think the difference between RIck and other bad guys is you basically have to do something to provoke him before he will go all evil on you. The other bad guys seem to see their terrible behavior as part of some bigger plan or philosphy. Once you do provoke him though he is not one who is ever willing to show mercy, at least most of the time. He seems to basically have the idea of "Don't mess with my people and we are fine but if you do I will kill you for it."

I get the impression that Rick feels so completely screwed over by this world, having taken the moral high road so many times and nearly getting his people killed for their troubles literally almost every time... I think he's permanently entered "fuck it" mode. Totally understandable, IMO. The fact he hasn't completely lost all his marbles by now after all this loss and death is, frankly, a miracle.
Definitely was just fine with Jared dying ...seems appropriate...but the killing of the others...yuck to me.

But that does not justify brutality in every situation. Paralyzing officer Bob was not necessary; he could have cut him off by speeding ahead of him (see Noah); his killing Pete (at Deanna's request) was more about his lust for Jessie than ending a threat, and hacking Gareth to pieces was not necessary. He could have shot him in the head (his "I don't want to waste the bullets" line was BS, since they had bullets to spare at Grady Memorial, the woods at Shirewilt Estates (Noah's home), or he would simply stabbed him in the head. Rick operates on upping the level of violent revenge in each case, which is just as vindictive as the Governor or Negan.
How many times has he ignored the "other side" options argued by Dale, Hershel, Tyreese, Michonne, and now Carl? If he spares Negan in the season finale it would be a turn for Rick, but its difficult to imagine Rick honoring Carl's wishes for any lengthy period of time.
Another person it could be is Geoffrey, we did not see him with the Saviors that escaped and also he did look like like shit, so it fits Negan's comments. It seems that who ever Negan picked up they were not in the car with him when he reached the Sanctuary.
Laura being the person he picked up makes a lot of sense.
Thought it was a good episode, liked the stuff with Jadis. And, really, I'd think she'd be more adept at bondage in tying him to the cart thing. I mean, she just looped rope around him and it but didn't wrap it around his arms, legs, or anything else. I could tell from looking at it he could easily get his forearms un-restrained.

I agree he has anger issues but compared to the bad guys he is able to keep it in check a little better than guys like Negan and governor. In a zombie apocolpse that is kind of what passes as being decent. Savage enough to survive but not so savage that he isn't able to still care about people. To me that is something I would think would be common with many people in this kind of world. At some point your going get your hands dirty and cross a line yet you always have to try and find your way back to your humanity. Those who never bend their values end up getting killed and those who embrace the darkness become monsters all the time.

I wonder how Aaron is doing at Oceanside? Starting to feel like the war will be over before he makes any headway there. Still curious as to what happened to Heath as well.
Rick doesn't seem like much more than a war criminal. He has seen a lot, but that still does not excuse his actions.

Carl was originally going to be the last one of the original group left alive. Now that's not going to happen.
It makes you wonder what direction they're ultimately going to take.
At some point, they could take it back to square one with Rick just waking up again.

Interesting...the map shown in the preview for next week shows Hilltop in or around the Warrenton or Culpepper area. That's quite a ways from Alexandria. Even going at high speeds it would take some time to get around but they zip around and make it look like they're in the next town over!
