Wachowskis in the Running to Direct Justice League Movie

Joss Whedon should do it. That would be funny. ;)

Only if Warners was willing to wait until 2018 for him. Whedon doing Justice League is impossible right now because of his contract with Marvel.
Does his contract state anything about "Don't fucking dare to do other films."? Because if you argue that DC comic films is competition, I'd argue that any sort of science fiction and fantasy epic is competition.

Depending on how many JLAers are in the movie will probably decide how much character development they'll be getting. But unlike the Avengers movie there won't be so to speak feeder movies that'll lead into the JLA movie.

But I do think that the Wachowskis will give the heroes and the movie a new look. Of course even the villain will need some kind of development and new visual effects concepts too. No matter who directs the movie it'll be a costly one to make.

Whedon just isn't doing Avengers 2. He is going to help develop the new Marvel tv show and also will also be involved in the next couple of upcoming Marvel movies. He is going to be godfathering them in a way.

Whedon has signed a three year deal contract to work exclusively for Marvel. You better believe they won't let him any where near a DC movie.

Brett Ratner?

LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! LMFAO! Sure, Warners gonna make a fuckload ton of money like The Avengers did. NOT!!!

First off, Ratner's only "in the running," probably along with a lot of other names. Second, as I said, he's not the one to blame for most of X-Men: The Last Stand's problems, because he was brought in after most of the creative decisions had been locked down. So it really doesn't seem like such strong emotional reactions are warranted at this point, if at all.

According to io9, a couple of other directors are in the running, too, namely McG (Terminator Salvation), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), and Zack Snyder (Man of Steel).

McG is pretty much the same kind of studio hack as Brett Ratner, but Ruben Fleischer could actually be a decent choice. I really liked Zombieland (although his "30 Minutes or Less" wasn't anything special).

Still, none of these names inspire the same kind of enthusiasm as Chris Nolan and Joss Whedon did. (then again, neither did Jon Favreau before Iron Man)

I don't want "McG"(inty) to do it. Terminator Salvation was one of the emptiest, most superficial films I've ever seen, all action and spectacle and hardly any plot, character, or even dialogue. It was just going through the motions -- "Okay, it's a Terminator sequel/prequel so we have to throw in this and that and the other thing," but none of it felt inspired or meaningful.

No idea who Fleischer is. As for Snyder, I wasn't crazy about Watchmen; it was decent, but not really right stylistically, too slick and polished for something that should've been more cinema verite in approach, and a little too slavish about replicating the comics' lines and images rather than focusing on the more important substance and tone. And I won't know if Man of Steel works until I see it.

So while I think people are being a little harsh on Ratner where X-Men is concerned, I do agree that this isn't an encouraging-sounding lineup WB is considering.
