Wachowskis for Superman reboot?

The Borg would probably have a difficult time trying to get their assimilation tubes to penetrate Superman's hardened skin though. It wouldn't be like normal human or alien skin where there is no resistance due to soft skin tissue, Superman wouldn't just resist his entire body would resist an assimilation attempt. The picture looks more like Edward Sissorhands crossed with Superman anyways to me. I never really understood the Nic Cage choice, remember that Superman was supposed to be Nicolas Cage.

Yeah, I hated more or less everything about that project. I find Burton's Batman overrated anyway, so to hell with him getting his hands on Superman -- and Nicholas Cage was a slightly more ridiculous choice than Michael Keaton.

Wouldn't the Borg adapt?

Drew McWeeny, who used to post at AICN as Moriarty but is now at Hitfix under his real name, posted that he checked with his sources at WB and they say there's no truth to this rumor of the Wachowskis directing Superman.

The Borg would probably seek out some Kryptonite and infuse their nanoprobes with it to allow them to penetrate Superman's skin.

God, I've thought too much about this ...

And re the Nic Cage thing, never seemed right to me. I like him a lot, I'm in the minority that liked Ghost Rider, but I remember hearing that Cage would be Supes and going 'WTF?' as did anyone I ever mentioned it to. I think the original idea was that he would be Lex, opposite the guy from Due South as Superman, then the next thing, Cage was to play TMOS. Burton was obviously looking to replicate the relative success of his casting Tim Burton as Batman - another balding, homely actor, best known (at that time) for comedy as a superhero usually depicted as square jawed, handsome and hirsute. But it was just going to be offbeat casting for the sake of offbeat casting.

Re: Wachowskis on Superman --

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Speed Racer was HAR-RIBLE!!! After that crime against cinema, the "Wach's" should never be allowed to direct again!

Bring on Logan's Run though! I've waited far too long for this one.

While I think Tim Burton has made some absolutely brilliant movies (Batman, Batman Returns, Big Fish, Ed Wood, The Nightmare Before Christmas), he has the perfectly wrong sensibility for Superman.

But I think Nicolas Cage would have been a decent choice for Clark Kent.

Tim Burton is going to make a Tim Burton film. Even his Batman films, which I like a great deal, are more "Tim Burton Presents: Batman" than any recognizable Batman I knew. But he got away with it because the character aligns more closely with his sensibilities, as you note. If Burton's Superman would have been made - and in my mind he would have been the wrong man for the job - the fault would lie squarely on the studio's shoulders for bringing him that film, not Burton's for doing what he does.
