Vulcans: what's the deal with the choking?

So I'm watching THIS:

And of course it brought to mind THIS:

And I'm wondering now because there is a definite enjoyment there in both those Vulcans slowly choking the life out of someone when they could kill them a lot quicker. It's like they enjoy removing the life one.. squeeze.. at a.. time.

So, vestige of Vulcan's violent past? Sure doesn't look logical.

Now is this adding the Vulcan neck pinch? Because that I know the answer to.

The fact that nuSpock took clear enjoyment in choking out nuKirk I am not sure.

Oh not the pinch. Oh most definitely not. Sorry, site is molasses at this time every night and it took forever to edit the video in.

I'd say something like this. In both cases there is clear reason for each character to lose control of their emotional suppression. Tuvok had just mind melded with a killer, and was losing control, and Spock is half human and doesn't have perfect control of his emotions. I can't think of any instances where a regular Vulcan under full control has used a choke, so I doubt there is anything logical about it at all.

Also the neck is one of the most vulnerable places on the body so if a Vulcan found it logical to kill someone that would be the place to go.

Plus, the desire to kill Neelix is kind of understandable. Especially in that scene.

Though, if a Vulcan's emotional control has been compromised, it's a lot of repressed stuff coming out all at once.

Vulcans are pretty violent but who wouldn't want to choke Neelix on occasion?

I'd like to see if Tuvok could keep his shit together after seeing his mother murdered, his world destroyed and his species virtually exterminated. I mean, if anything is gonna make a Vulcan lose it, it's that. I'm suprised Sarek didn't flip his lid, too.

Poor Neelix getting choked by Tuvok and knocked on his ass by Seven. :(
