Vulcans and Romulans

It's not canon (of course) but in many of the novels it's said that Romulans lack the telepathic abilities that Vulcans have.

Which might be bad news if telepathy is a necessary component for Vulcanoid breeding...

Perhaps that's why the Romulans are so pissed off with the Federation? Because every last one of them is old enough to be a veteran of the 22nd century war?

I think the fact that Romulans seem pissed off all the time may be due to them always speaking the truths and what's obvious. Those damn Vulcans and Romulans! Reminds me of Thai cultures. Thai people are very literal and when they make jokes and scarsm it's usually about the truths, but they let you knwo they are joking. Perhaps this is why some people think Thai people are arrogant. When westerners go over there, they think they are doing something wrong when they are just joking around. Thais tend to get very personal. lol When Americans make jokes to a Thai person, sometime they think they are serious because we tend to make the object of the fun think we are telling the truths, and we tend to make rediculous and absurd stuff up about the persons when we joke around.... So they think that's what we think of them!

Does anyone know why Romulan ships have hologram projector, but the Federation doesn't? We do but it's not as sophisticated.... I think it because the Romulan ships are a lot more powerful which allows them to generate better holograms. They use an artificial singularity as the source they harvest energy to power their ships. It provides them with unlimited power source. Hence a lot of time travel storylines always involve those damn Romulans...!

The hologram projectors that allow them communicate much like a view screen. The Federation's is confined to one small area, but their holograms can walk around. Well...at least on some ships, they are not confined to one small area.

When would they have demonstrated this tech?

Anyway, the Feds have the same tech: B'Elanna Torres was at one point able to install holoemitters around the Voyager so that most of its interior became a holodeck. A smaller-scale version was used onboard the Defiant in "For the Uniform", but never caught on. It was more an obstruction than an asset: why let your communications partner hog the floor when you can confine him or her to the wall, out of the way?

In any case, UFP viewscreens appear to be holographic: if viewed from the starboard side, they reveal the left cheek of the person in the screen, if from port, then the right cheek. (That's because the visual effect is easier to film that way.)
