Vulcan Temples-->bomb shelters?

One thing I'm confused about the evacuation of Vulcan is why the elders (including Spock's parents) were inside a Vulcan temple when the entire planet was ordered for evacuation? Are these places of worship located within the arid mountains of Vulcan used as shelters against bombardment? Were they praying to the gigantic effigies of Vulcan Gods and Goddesses for protection? It sure didn't protect the poor Vulcan who was crushed by one of the falling statues. :(

I remembered Spock mentioning the name of the place where the elders and his parents were at on Vulcan while he was on the bridge, prior to beaming on the planet. Did anyone catch what he said? I'll pay closer attention next time I see the film tonight. Well, I hope there will be an Official Visual Book for the film. I would definitely love to see pictures of those beautiful gigantic statues and learn more about who they were, etc.

It wasn't a temple--Spock tells you that while he is still on the bridge. They are at the Katric Ark, trying to protect the Katras stored there.

I believe the Vulcans weren't even aware the planet was being destroyed. There were reports of planetwide earthquakes. That's all. (Why nobody seemed to notice the giant yellow beam of light coming down from the sky and put two and two together is beyond me. So much for super-intellect and logic. :lol: )

Spock actually TELLS them when he finds them, and they immediately leave.

"Hey, these guys are dead. Let's not join them."

Is that located in the Forge? The Forge is impenetrable by sensors, and I thought that was also why Spock couldn't just beam them out.
