Voyager Slimline sets, what is different?

Hello from a longtime lurker...

I am about to buy Voyager on DVD because it has been ages since I have seen that show in its entirety. The UK Slimline DVDs are now going for around £10 for each full season, which is quite a nice price.

I was, however, wondering if the Slimline versions are any different from the "old" version of the sets other than the packaging.

If anyone has those, could you please let me know? I gather the episodes themselves are the same, but what about extras and image quality?

Much appreciated...

No diference. The packaging is just smaller and more convenient. Theres no booklet but that doesnt say much anywasy its mainly to give an episode list which you get on the box anyway.
Not sure why you'd want to buy the boxsets though they certainly don't get better the more you watch them.

Well, I don't know about the OP, but I personally just don't like renting or borrowing series/movies/games I really care about, I want to own them, if that makes any sense. In some cases - such as Star Trek - even digital distribution is out of the question, as I want a physical copy (yes, I am old-fashioned like that ;)).

On topic: Good to know the slims aren't significantly worse feature/quality-wise, I was about to order VOY for a complete rewatch as well :techman:

I didn't notice a difference between the two versions either. The special features are on both versions, so are the "hidden files" ;) I like the slims much better though. I had to buy the slims because the "old versions" weren't available here anymore...no idea why

I rather enjoyed the entire run, and watch it again everytime it's on. I wish it was cheaper here in the US so I could justify buying the box set.

I would guess due to overstock & price point.

^^ Maybe. But I'm glad I had to buy them. I own season 1 and 7 in the old version and find them rather unappealing. I thought the fridge (was it a fridge?) was really cool though. You know? That thing you could buy with all the seasons in it. But that cost way too much.

I got rid of the old versions due to them being too bulky and got my self the slimline sets. Never regretted swapping them :)

Hmm, that's true! I dunno if my players are region-free, though. Those old VOY boxsets are OBESE! At least the DS9 boxsets have the good graces not to be so dang fat.

I think my DS9 are pretty Chunky. I like theme that way the bigger the better ;)
