Voyager relaunch question

Centaur2000

Lieutenant
Red Shirt
I want to dive into the Voyager relaunch books. As it seems not possible to buy Homecoming and Spirit Walk book 1 for a reasonable price here in Germany, I wonder if I could skip the first four books and start with Full Circle. Would I miss anything important?

As for the other series set in the late 24th century, I'm current with Titan, the new TNG books, Destiny and the DS9 relaunch.

Thanks

You should be fine starting with Full Circle, since you're all caught up on the other series you're pretty well aware of what's gone on with the majority of the VOY crew anyway.

By the way, which book contains
B'Elanna and Miral faking their death?
I read about that on Memory Beta after reading A Singular Destiny with that small hint in a certain chapter.

Maybe someone should add a spoiler tag to that comment...

Full Circle, but it's explored in Unworthy

EDIT: Now i see why they call you lightning!

Hups. :-) Sorry for that! I Thought it was from one of the older books. But when looking at the time these take place, it's clear that I was mistaken.

Most of the plotlines in the first four Golden-penned books are dealt with fairly quickly, or as asides, in Full Circle. So you might hit a couple random mentions that you don't understand, but they're not important to the story at all. I'd recommend just starting with Full Circle.

I was so disappointed with Golden's books that I didn't read them all. I didn't have too much trouble understanding the events prior to Full Circle. I think it's fine.

i've only read Full Circle and Unworthy and I coped.
Same here. Although I knew some of what was going on since I read about what happened to the different characters after they got home on Memory Beta. I've found it's a good idea to do this if I haven't read the previous books in a series I'm about to start, or if I don't remember what was going on.

Most of the major characters from the TV usually have pretty informative pages.

Unlike a few others here, I liked Christie Golden's books. I think Kirsten Beyer's Full Circle and Unworthy are the best of the VOY-R, don't get me wrong; but Ms. Golden's books were fun reads that provided some key character growth, both personally and professionally, and are worth your time if you ever find copies for a decent price. But really, FC and Unworthy are all you need.

If you're planning to read both, I'd recommend reading A Singular Destiny before Full Circle. But it really doesn't matter too much.

ASD was published first, so if you are going to read them both I'd say do it first. But, it's not really related to FC, so if you don't have it don't worry.

I liked her books too. They weren't as great as Beyers' but I think she did very well and I felt like she cared about the characters as much as I did.
