Voyager DVD's - Is it worth it?

There's no perfect season of Star Trek. They all have winners and stinkers.

...So video/audio quality aside, I'm really wondering about the bonuses and extras. Are they worth buying the DVD's??? What can I expect to see???
I rarely watch extra tracks, but the DVD episodes are worth it for me. I re-watch them about once a year. I bought each season as soon as they came out; I also ripped the sound tracks for iPod. Fun to listen to while doing chores.

Still part of that weird Janeway clique over in Trek Lit.

Guess my time here is done. I actually wanted to discuss this series but it seemed only Tachyon had any stomach for it. Great thoughts by the way Tachyon.

Moderation is way too tight. Guess that is why you guys end up with compelling threads like "Who would win a war - Neelix or Jar-Jar Binks" or "Who's more annoying - Neelix or Phlox". Those threads are okay in and of themselves, but unfortunately seem to be the meat of the Voyager forum. I understand a moderator wanting to keep things from getting out of hand, but when it is to tight it sucks the fun right out of the forum.

I genuinely hope that season 4 gets better since I spent money on it.

As to the original question. If you're a fan of this show it is definitely worth picking up on DVD. Your unlikely to find better picture and sound quality anywhere else.

Live long and prosper.

No one is stopping you from the discussing the series. If you have a personal problem with any poster including a moderator then resolve with a pm. Thank you.

I own all the Ds9 dvd's. I bought them when they were new and paid over a hundred bucks a season. My brother owns all the Voyager seasons. His were cheaper because he waited about a year ago to pick his up. I also own Enterprise and T.O.S. and Next Generation. I enjoy the fact that he and I own all the episodes. If either of us wants to watch any episode from either of the shows, each of us has access to them. In my opinion, they're a worthwhile investment. A little pricey maybe if you're tight for cash, but definitely worth having if you're a fan.

I'd also like to say that I've seen advertisements for a Voyager boxed set edition for around 100 U.S. dollars. I don't know if they are the same quality as the individual season releases or if it contains the same special features and bonus material though. So, I'd suggest that you shop around and make sure that you're getting the best possible deal. If the 100 dollar boxed set is of the same quality I'd feel bad about not mentioning it and letting you know that you might be able to save some money. Like I said though, I'd check into it first and make sure.

It's a FAAAAAAKE!:p

seriously, it's a bootleg. I have no idea what the quality would be, but those $100 sets are not official.

Come on BillJ - let's continue exchanging our thoughts about the episodes. Did you watch the Unforgettable yet?

Hum, I'm quite critical of Voyager but Living Witness is one of the best Star Trek episodes ever..at least to me. A powerfull story about how History can be manipulated, revised or simply misunderstood and how it can afect a society. Plus it's done in quite a fresh way. A winner for sure.

Unforgetable is fluff and Demon is really bad.

The Omega Directive has some nice character insight for Seven, which I consider one of the best Star Trek characters, so its adition to the show was a positive thing for me.

Season 4 won't really improve btw. I find One to be somewhat boring and I do like Hope and Fear alot but I know of people who disliked it quite much.

All in all I think Season 4 was the best season of the show...with the exception perhaps of Season 1 and 2 which I tend to see as one big Season. I consider the Kazon storyline a highlight of the show.

Regarding Technobabble, Voyager certanly used it more as a way to solve problems that then other shows. DS9 did have technobabble but it was very rarely used as a way to get out of bad spots.

As for the DVD, if you are a fan or have never seen the show buy them, specially now that they're cheap. But only for the episodes, the extras are forgetable.

The worst part of the DVDs, at least in America, is the discs themselves. There's practically no labeling. You have to refer to the box to know which episode is on what disc because the TINY writing around the inner circle is practically illegible and useless. Would it have really put them out to label the discs clearly for cryin' out loud?

The TNG and DS9 first releases have beautiful labels, with design cues from the series.

Are they double sided?

Yeah...I think it would come in handy right about now to recall that The Colbert Report is a satire of a conservative pundit.
