"Voyager Borg"

The Dominion were scary before the war because we saw them blowing up plenty of ships and people in their very first appearance like the USS Odyssey. Plus the whole "prisoner is really spy" thing.

VOY DID show the Borg attacking and assimilating others, but it still didn't matter to the audience.

Frankly, I find more problems with BoT every time I see it which has lessened my enjoyment of it over the years. That the characterizations and stuff were all taken from a prior movie and pretty much pasted onto existing TOS characters didn't really make me like it much more either.

You seem to be forgetting that the Borg had other appearances outside of Voyager itself. They were established as, at the very least, a credible villain. They didn't necessarily need to blow anything up to prove how bad ass they were. TNG and FC set up the pitch, Voyager swung and missed. They had every bit as much set up as the Dominion had (more so even since the Borg got a starring role in the most popular TNG film made and the Dominion got one line in potentially the least popular TNG movie) and yet somehow, while the Dominion maintained their menacing qualities the Borg on Voyager all but lost theirs by the end of the series.

If you don't like an episode (even of the original series) because it emulates something else... I find it hard to believe you like Star Trek at all.

The Dominion never ventured outside of the show and setting that created them, while the Borg were shoehorned into a role they were never meant for (recurring villain). Plus, with how ungodly powerful they made the Borg to be in TNG and FC there was nowhere to go but down from there.

I like BoT, I just don't think it's THAT good. I feel the same about "City on the Edge of Forever". Good, but not great.
