About a month ago Stephen Hawking said that we shouldn't advertise our presence here because the most likely outcome would be that the aliens who visit us would come as conquerers. I wonder if Stephen Hawking's statement was really designed to affect people's attitudes about aliens, and prepare them - prepare us - for imminent contact.
