Thanks guys! Its always great to find new people to talk Trek with! And now all I want to do is read more Trek books, which is great (except not so great for my student budget). There are so many books out there though! It is overwhelming-ly awesome.

I just finished AOC last night. By Chapter 20 I knew that you weren't going to wrap-up the story threads I this book. The ending reminded me of how I felt when I was watching the ending to "Unimatrix Zero" Part 1 for the first time back in 2000, and I knew that the story would not be wrapped up before summer.

"Admiral Kathryn Janeway faces a tribunal determined to execute her for supposed crimes committed during Voyager’s maiden trek through the Delta Quadrant"

I called that when I read they were going back to the DQ, I can't believe it - I so called that!!

I am so ready for this book, and it's due on my birthday!! At least my exams will be over by then, so I don't have to worry about being able to concentrate!!

Could we get a review thread going for Atonement? If I remember correctly, the AOC review thread was up well before the actual book was released.

Review threads with polls and everything usually get started a couple weeks before a book comes out, not nine months :)

There's often a separate thread, just for predictions and commentary and excitement and cover art and blurbs and all that stuff, which you could totally start though.

I open mine about ten-ish days in advance usually (next-to-last weekend before the street date), in keeping with a convention established by Thrawn. Exactly 10 days for AOC actually :).

Whoops haha, my bad! I must be getting my wires crossed somewhere!

Just finished this. It was as good as everyone said it was, which was a pretty high bar. REALLY looking forward to the next book.

I enjoyed AOC immensely. VOY is one of my favorite series, so I´m up to date regarding the relaunch. Several years ago I didn´t trust myself reading books in english, but now I manage it quite well.

I´m currently re-reading the german versions of the VOY Relaunch by Cross Cult. And they use new covers featuring characters like Paris, Torres and Seven. I wonder if Mrs. Beyer likes them.

I don't know why but I just can't get into AOC. I've tried 3 times since release and lose interest. Which is a real shame as I have loved all of the previous Beyer Voyager novels. For me Kirsten's Voyager and Christopher Bennett's Enterprise novels bear the most resemblance to their onscreen versions and have been some of the best books of recent years. My one main criticism of some of the TNG/DS9 novels post Destiny Trilogy is that they don't feel like Star Trek stories just stories (although very good ones) using Star Trek characters and settings. Recent novels like The Missing and Takedown seem to be reversing that trend and both capture the tone of the series they are based on. From reading this thread it appears I just need to stick with it. When I've finished Foul Deeds Will Rise, I think I'll head back to it.

Per usual, I'm late to the book discussion but I wanted to thank Kirsten for another fantastic Voyager book. That was an easy "outstanding" vote. A lot to digest and I can not wait for the next book!

Just want to add my two-penneth here and say how much I loved this book, and this Beyer's whole VOY series in general - truly epic!!! Beyer shows such a HUGE reverence for Voyager's source material, drawing on threads from the whole 7 years of the show, and adding many complimentary threads, it's really an amazing work when you put all the books together. Thanks! And honestly, she writes the characters so well - they are all exactly as they should be, Janeway *is* Janeway in these books and I can totally hear Mulgrew in my head each and every time Janeway speaks :) AoC is another entry in a great series and long may it continue.... hoorah!

just wanted to chime in..
Kirsten Beyer not only managed to make me care about Voyager, but made me actually wait impatiently to read the progression of a family court drama *starring Voyager characters*!

this is some of the best Treklit IMO, and I'm a big fan of political/espionage/war type stories in Trek!

I've been a bit behind on my Trek reading but just finished AoC and it was awesome. The VOY relaunch under Kirsten never fails to disappoint and the characters are spot on. :techman:

This line had me chuckling after bearing witness to so many of Voyager's on screen battles.

"The bridge was not in what Chakotay had come to accept as it's customary state of disarray following battle, although the destruction of Voyager's deflector had caused system wide overloads. Only the engineering and sensor panels had caught fire, and a few overhead plates had fallen, exposing conduits belching sparks and fumes."

I was overcome with a wave of nostalgia thinking back to the sparking and flame ridden bridge back in the day.

OK i Know i am late in arriving but i am be hide in my reading, before reading these 2 Voy books i was reading the first 4 books of TP. tho i am trying to keep to the years by year books so as i find it easier to read so this book being in 2382 (i think it was) anyway I love VOY relaunch books they are my Favourite series for relaunch books.

The only down side to this novel for me was the seven story i found i was rushing tho it to get to the other stories how ever one i reach the last few chapter dealing with is the doctor discovery and then seven being in a dream thing, i found i like it then so if it keeps going in that line i am will be happy with it.
I like that in the lit we see the other side of starfleet the political side and the dark underbelly since the Borg invasion that to be far probably been there all along just hidden under the section 31 banner but is becoming more wide spread in the wake of there loses.
so i am interested to see hoe starfleet and the President deal with this Commander and so of the Admiralty stuff we have seen the first 2 books.

My english is not great I have dyslexia so i hope this make cents.
Thanks
