Isaiah 60:1, I accept your proposition since I don't know how to set up a poll, although I would have learned for the occasion. For the record, I think that John Chrichton the astronut is a bigger smartass, and Spock, a smarter smartass, than Solo. Han is just hotter (and a bit more popular) - although I wouldn't like to start a debate.

Ideas? I thought "So cute you could barf" was a good one.
Or... off the top of my head, secret loves?
Underdog?
Whiners?
Short-lived but memorable?
Baldies? Plenty of possibilities for that theme, if you think of it. I like it.

Those are some good ideas with potential. The "so cute you could barf" has a nice, MAD TV kind of atmosphere to it. Check out the link in Temis' post for a list of past winners, if you want to see what's already been used. Or if you need some inspiration for a new and different kind of idea. Of course, your current suggestions are pretty good already.

Wow, big-ass list indeed.
I see "secret romance", "guest stars", "wimps" and "bald characters" are in it.

Let's go with "Short-lived but memorable", it's a tough one. (Unless someone convinces me otherwise.)
It can be a character or a show. Not necessarily as short as one-episode guest stars.

I'm sure someone else will pick up "so cute you could barf" down the line.
