Vote for the most overrated, strangely popular, inexplicably successful and/or awarded films.

auntiehill's is the only one I can honestly vote for. ;) Any of these would have gotten my two other votes: Avatar, Inception, any Matrix movie, Moon and District 9.

"Million Dollar Baby" is the only one I don't like. It was shaping up to be a decent straghtforward underdog boxing/sports movie, then the plot twist (which some people inexplicably thought elevated it to greatness) turned it into melodramatic crap. "Brokeback Mountain" is overrated and contrived too, but at least it had good acting (Heath Ledger rocked it).

The rest are all right movies and how is "The Godfather: Part III" overrated? It may have been successful financially and nominated for best picture at the time of its release, but it's nothing but a punchline these days. One of the first famous go-to examples of how third movies in a franchise tend to suck.

For me the most entertaining thing about Brokeback Mountain was that I watched it with 2 straight male friends and their reactions to certain scenes in the movie were priceless :guffaw:

od0-ital, JiNX-01 and showdown.

I actually liked all the other movies, so I can't call them overrated.

wow, so you all really loved Casino Royale, eh?

and i thought you had taste...

It opened with Daniel Craig running down a bad guy in a construction site. That's the main reason I stuck with it.

And it didn't suck anywhere near as much as "Quantum of Solace."

Second place! Thanks for the votes, folks!

Suggestions...has "Biopics" been done recently? Ya know, those "based on a true story" movies & tv specials.
