Apparently most of the usual gang of suspects in these contests agree with Niels Bohr:
Niels Bohr said:
Prediction is very difficult, especially about the future.

Accordingly this very first contest of the year 2013 has a very limited array of entries now that it comes to voting.

-I actually thought having an AV contest on a future-oriented board in the week of The International Consumer Electronics Show would contain loads of avatars with subjects inspired from technology: physically flexible (cell-)phones, dual 3D televisions, eye-movement controlled user-interfaces, home 3D-printing, self-driving cars and much much more of that sort.

But... What we do have, is a nice little selection of hopes for all, personal aspirations and a couple of less shiny predictions to choose from. So go on and cast your votes for two of these entries.

The voting will end 48 hours after the posting of this thread.

I've been wondering about this for a long time: How can a vote thread attract (as of right now) 26 views but only 3 voters? :cardie:

I mean, who are these people that come to vote threads and, despite knowing what they're about, just leave again without voting?

Sure a couple of those might be repeat-views, but it still looks as if twenty people came in here and decided all the entries were of the exact same quality and therefore they weren't able to limit their choice to two.

I'd love to hear from someone that doesn't vote; I'd especially like to know why they didn't vote when they went through the trouble of viewing the thread anyway.

Please comment!

well, I voted...RJ and Finn...

maybe some of those that didn't vote came to look and will be back later to vote. they may still be making up their minds

Voted! :-) ... but I have no insight as to why people who view these threads don't actually vote.

Nice entries. Ultimately, I voted for Finn (Boston is definitely in my future :rommie: ) and trekkiedane (because zombies are less a prediction than a sure thing  ).

Please comment!
I suppose some of those hits are webcrawlers like Googlebot.

^I was wondering about those but I don't know how much of that sort of activity actually exists.

It seems like we already have a winner - but RJD might still catch up once the votes from the I only come to this board when I'm at work-crowd are in; could still change things a bit!

Wow, love is doing better than I expected. Thanks for the votes, you softies. :adore:
