One vote only, for each person?

Just checking, since we've usually had two votes with that many entrants.

There were several excellent stories in the mix - congratulations to all the entrants! In the end, I selected Nerys Ghemor's The Nature of the Beast. The ethereal nature of the story struck a chord with me.

Wish I could have entered this month. I finally came up with an idea for a story - this morning. :brickwall: Oh well.

Well, since people have already started voting, unless there is a major uproar and request to allow two, I'll leave it at this. So if you do want two, let me know in the next day and I'll create a new thread.

Thanks...I'm very glad you liked it. That whole thing was an experiment, and I'm glad that for some, it will have worked. :)

Who's to say it wouldn't STILL be a good story worth writing, either for a future challenge, or just for its own sake? :)

One of my stories--which is now a novella--started as a challenge entry I wasn't able to finish in time for the challenge at hand, over at Ad Astra. Now, I would not be surprised if The Desolate Vigil clocked in at 50 pages or more in Word, whenever it's finally finished!!!

Who's to say you don't have similar potential on your hands? Give it a shot sometime! :)

The slightly duplicitous Cardassian voice over my shoulder says I should vote for someone not likely to win to enhance my meager chances...But in the end I must ignore that and vote for "The Nature of the Beast" – Nerys Ghemor

For me, it's simply compelling writing of a totally different calibre.

I had to ponder and even re-read. I really, really wanted to give it to Fair Mirror but Timmy came up with such an original story he got my vote.

I'm gonna vote for "Yesterday's Betazoid," by Mistral. The take on Troi was just so incredibly engaging!!!

Lots of good stories, but I've gone for Mari's Fair Mirror because it was a very clever idea well told :techman:

I voted "Nature of the Beast". A big reason is, Nerys effectively did the ONE think I think myself incapable of writing--a tale that is all just one big narration (I try to do that, and for the life of me, I HAVE to have scenes. I'm stuck on "Show Don't Tell"....)--and make it every bit as compelling as her other tales.

(BTW, yes, I DID read the other ones. All good, all compelling and fascinating in their own way--but the fact that Nerys made that particular style work--and work supremely well--make the ticket for me. :))

There is a LOT of quality stuff this time around, that's for sure.

All I can say is that the voice of this narrator just got REALLY strong, in my mind--writing this felt almost like I was doing an interview for a historical documentary...an oral history, almost like someone from another species (Vulcan, maybe? Or Bajor or Betazoid, once they were freed from the horrible things they were going through?) was trying to put together something to let humanity speak out on what had happened to them. He just seemed so haunted by what he'd seen, and what he'd experienced within himself that it felt best to just let him tell his story.

I'd like to thank the other 3 as well as Nerys for the votes. I'm dang proud of that story...

Thanks! And congrats to you as well for a really good turnout of voters for you, as well. I really thought you and I would wind up in a runoff!

Actually, I expected that of a number of entries!

Thank you, guys...I'll be posting the new challenge when I go on my lunch break. I'm hoping you'll like it... :D
