I have been using Firefox for a long time, but recently it started to clog my RAM too much, so I'm switching to Chrome.
FireFox is becoming unreliable lately. There are even web pages that display fine in IE and Chrome but not in Firefox. How 'bout that? And the flash plugin crashes constantly.
I can't speak for Safari, but Chrome does not send your browsing data (nor personal data) to Google. It can send crash reports, but only with your permission.
(Google does, of course, know what you search for--if you are using Google's search engine.)
This was happening to me frequently about a month ago, but - touch wood - it hasn't happened recently. Can't remember if I updated it during that time, but might be worth checking you're up to date.
As can be guessed from the above, I use Firefox. I wouldn't call it a "favourite" browser though; I just tend to like whatever I'm used to and don't change unless I really need to. That's been Firefox for a while now because somehow my IE got corrupted on my old laptop years ago. Even though I'm on a new laptop these days, I've kept using Firefox rather than go to the effort of trying out a new version of IE. In fact, I dislike browser change so much that I have Firefox customised (in terms of general button layout) to look quite similar to IE7, which was what I was using at the time I first switched from IE to FF. I don't really have a brand loyalty for browsers, more a general inertia against change.
I only use Chrome now. I was a Firefox user for several years, but I got really annoyed at it wanting me to update apps EVERY SINGLE DAY. Chrome is just a lot quicker in my opinion, and much easier to force close if something goes awry.

Flash crashes no matter what browser it's on. At least with Chrome, it only crashes the plugin and leaves the rest of the tab (as well as the whole browser) alone.
^ Firefox has a thing called Plugin Container that limits the crash to the plugin and not the browser as well, but it can be a bit of a resource hog and used to cause a lot of problems itself (though the recent version seems to work adequately, but not great).
I had the same problem, but Flash updated yesterday and I haven't had any trouble so far (fingers crossed), so hopefully that fixed it. Try and upgrade yours.

I use Firefox for my personal Web surfing. At work, I develop using Firefox (I love Firebug 
), but also use IE, Chrome and Safari from time to time when I need to test how the sites I'm working on look. On rare occasions, I will test with Opera as well, if I have adequate time.

There was a very specific version of Flash that was causing different problems in FFx. It was 11.3 (if I remember correctly).
I downgraded to 11.2 to cure my ills and am still on that version.
I'm not an expert on browsers or software by a cosmic longshot but I know what I like and what I don't want to even bother with anymore, and Internet Explorer falls into that second category.
I haven't used IE in ages and have no intention of doing so anytime soon. It's just a waste of time as far as I'm concerned, there's always one problem or another and I know just a few people who still use it.

I'm tired of having to support IE when I fix someone's computer. It goes something like this:
Me: "I notice you use Internet Explorer. I recommend you switch to another browser, such as Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explorer has many issues which make maintaining your computer's security much more difficult."
Customer: "Oh, no thanks. I like Internet Explorer."
Me: "Are you sure? I could quickly and easily install another browser, and import your settings. Aside from the more secure and speedier experience, you wouldn't notice the difference."
Customer: "Oh, no thanks. I want Internet Explorer."
Me: "Okay, but just consider this: Even with the watchdog programs I have installed on your system, using Internet Explorer will still allow some of those problem issues to come back, which will cost you more money in the long term."
Customer: "No thanks, I like using Internet Explorer. It's the safest."
*sigh*
