This week we have a big pile of gorgeous entries from this gorgeous-looking series, so you may VOTE FOR THREE!

Even so, I'm warnin' ya, it's gonna be hard to pick.

The polls will close 72 hours from now, on Thursday evening at about 10pm Pacific time.

Yes, this was a tough one.

In the end, I went with EMHMark613, Hoshi's Sis and Skywalker.

Whoa, lceb is already beating the stuffing out of the rest of us! Good entry there, hon. :techman:
I don't want to spoil your fun but Iceb's entry is slightly larger that 140 pixels on one side :shifty:
Not that it wouldn't deserve to win ;)

Thanks for the votes guys, but it is true, one of the sides is 145 pixels. Should I withdraw it?

Now, back to voting.... very difficult this time....EMHMark613, Skywalker and Tuln.

Oh, yikes! I'm sorry, lceb. We probably should have caught that earlier so you had a chance to fix it.

I'd say it's up to you.

Withdraw? No, for God's sake!

I think that 5 pixels don't really make any difference, you can still crop the pic and upload it with the same name again (for this, you have to delete the original pic from your photobucket account first). Or anybody who'd like to use it as an avatar can crop by themselves.

This is my absolute favorite in this contest, I'd hate if you withdraw it just because I have a long tongue :(

It's too early to say it would win, but I suppose I have to withdraw it, it's my falt after all :brickwall: I don't know what problems this causes to the poll.... Maybe HR should give it another day so that people can change their votes? I'll pay much more attention to the rules next time... I'm really very sorry I messed things up:alienblush:

No, you are right, rules are rules and we have to keep them. Thanks for liking it and don't worry, it won't be lost, I'll crop it and present it again another time! (Or anybody who'd like to use it as an avatar can crop by themselves!)

Actually, I would argue there's no point in withdrawing the av, simply because its size isn't why it's winning. (Not that I would endorse flouting the rules, but it's such a small difference, nobody noticed in the leadup to voting).

ETA: It would be different if it was an animated av, because the larger the file size the better the quality. And that would give the entry an edge, but that's not the case here.

We can just be more vigilant later. :)

Iceb
Skywalker
Thena

I wouldn't worry about 5 little pixels. If you made it into the poll with no one noticing, then it doesn't matter.

D'oh! The one week I don't double-check the size and dimensions of every entry. It's just as well I'm tanking in this contest--I'm too distracted nowadays.

Nope, lceb, it's my bad. I'm the contest runner this go-round, and the buck stops with me. I agree that rules are rules...but it sure would help for me to post the rules, eh? Pluswhich, we all know you're fairly new to the av contests here, and it doesn't seem to me as if you were trying to pull one over on everybody.

Agreed on all points, JiNX. And I thank the rest of you for weighing in while I was away.

In the interest of fairness, let's all compare. Below is lceb's original 145-pixel-wide entry, and the image modifed to 140 pixels wide.

From where I'm sitting, I agree with es!, JiNX, and auntiehill that there is not a significant difference in picture quality. (I welcome other opinions, of course.)

Based on this, it is my assessment as this week's Queen of the Avatar Contest (Look upon me and despair! ) that people are voting for lceb's entry because of the image, not the pixel width. lceb, I appreciate you volunteering to withdraw, but I am fine with letting the entry remain in the contest.

I have taken the liberty of replacing the 145-pixel version with the 140-pixel version in the voting post.

And I think we'll all remember the rules from now on. Contest runners included.

Cropping lceb's entry to the proper size really doesn't change the overall impression, so I think the correct size av should stay.
