My vote goes to tenmei for his Greater Good story. I thought he created a really interesting future history and I was intrigued right up until the end.

Good job!

I wrestled with this one like I haven't in months. Despite the minimal number of entries, every single one was a potential winner. That doesn't happen every month. Good job everyone who managed to enter despite the holidays!

Man, the Greater Good was really good--but in the end I had to give it to The Second Foundation, which left me with a chill up my spine and my brain racing, in the end.

My vote also went to the second foundation mostly due to the final line and President Kim.

Third time's the charm! :techman:

Well, since it would be rather unsportsman-like to vote for myself out of pity... () My vote went to The Greater Good for the imagination.

Uhm, my vote went for The Second Foundation. Out of the two stories that I could vote for, that was the one that made me most want to see further adventures in that version of the Trek universe with clearly defined characters and some interesting developments.

I really, really struggled with this one, and if I could have voted for both tenmei and CaptainSarine, I would have. Ultimately, I went with tenmei only because I very much liked the idea of a resistance on the inside, including the XO. Both stories had some excellent bits of world building and great premises that got my mind working, though. And I loved that Capt.Sarine considered what happened to the crew of VOY out in the Delta Quadrant! So I really, really wish I could have voted for both! I almost didn't vote at all, it was that close!

CaptainSarine might be new to the challenges and not know how they work.

Sarine, since you are the winner (congratulations :techman:) you get to decide the new challenge. Decide what prompt you want for the stories (it can be as specific or vague as you like), how long the story should be and any other parameters you want to add. Then create a thread here in the fan-fiction forum titled January Writing Challenge (and then a name for your challenge).

Good luck everyone!

Have you PM'ed Sarine? If not I can, but it might be a good idea since this is his first time to win.

trampledamage, Nerys, sojourner,

Sorry about that, this is my first win (Yay! :)) and didn't realise I needed to post the new challenge. That is done now. Since a lot of people last month thought that Garm's challenge was about any kind of what-if, I thought I'd give everyone a chance to enter those entries that couldn't be accepted and open it out to any what-if scenario.

Anyway, the challenge thread is up.

You also need to post your winning story in this thread: Writing Challenge- The winning entries.
