It has that Micheal Bay transformers look but at the same time it doesn't. For one thing, I can tell what part is what ;)

Anyone still remember the latino review script review?

Allura disappears into the compound with one of the blue keys, and when she remerges on page 36, she does so in a giant fucking machine in the shape of a colossal, 50 foot tall Lion, assembled entirely out of Earth bound parts. A C-130H tailgate has been used for the mouth, complete with traffic spikes for the teeth. The glass dome of an A6E Intruder cockpit has been soldered onto the head. All of this stands on top of four legs, refashioned from four construction excavator claws.

Basically Voltron made of junk

Looks and sounds terrible, come to think of it the source material isn't that great anyway.

The source material is full of opportunities. The test images there look alright. The lions are bit too undefined for my taste but its a start.

I think the biggest decision would be rather to make it a space based film or Earth based. How far into the future is it then? Voltron has to take place at some 'point in the future' as a starting place. No story works where a crew going to the ISS gets beamed/sucked into another dimension. We don't currently send up that many varied personnel.

Was this from the Justin Marks written version?? Interesting that they look similar to Transformers and yet doesn't...agree with Sammy on that.

Don't care for it myself though I guess it makes some sense if these things are somehow supposed to be home-grown. Guess I don't care much for that idea either.

Voltron as a whole doesn't look too terrible, but the lions on their own look like ass. Definitely too much Bay Transformers influence on the designs in the need to cover them in an excessive number of greebles and nooks and crannies. There was nothing wrong with the more simplified forms of the original. I'm not opposed to updating it by any means, but there's also nothing wrong with keeping the design more simplified.

I don't think it looks too bad, but a simpler design would be my preference as well.

That design of Voltron is a lot closer to the original than the TF2 version of Devastator was, that's for sure. In that case, I'm not sure why they decided to go with that "ape" design as opposed to a bipedal bot like the original, I didn't like it.

I really don't like the idea of Voltron set in modern times. They should stick with a "futuristic past" and create the lions the way they're supposed to look. Why even do live action anyway? Wouldn't animation/CGI be cheaper?

Ugh, don't get me started on Devastator. Why do a gigantic Transformer only to have it hunched over like that to make it half the size? Then to have him be completely wasted in the movie and killed like a punk instead of having the Autobots team up to take him out sucked. Plus, the whole "I'm directly beneath the enemy scrotum" thing. Christ.
