Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans want

Re: Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans

Thanks for posting this.

Unfortunately, the DS9 comments in the interview are unclear. They don't make it clear about if she is saying the DS9 movie would have been different from what general Trek fans want to see, or different from what DS9-specific fans want to see. If it's the former, then I say that's great! Woulda been by far the best Trek movie. If it's the latter, then I'm glad there was never any DS9 movie.

She probably believes that a DS9 movie would have gone the same route -- quality-wise -- as the TNG films. :borg:

Had there been a DS9 film, Rick Berman would have been in charge of it -- even with Ira Behr as writer and producer -- that's for sure.

It would be great if DS9 was treated right.

BTW: Nana is always a class act.

Re: Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans

^ Unfortunately, it likely wouldn't have been treated right.

So I, for one, am glad we didn't get a movie.

Yeah, but doesn't mean I wouldn't mind seeing them all together in the future... :techman:

Hummmmm.... Unfortunately, it will never happen. :(

Never say never!

It would be awesome to see a television miniseries based on the DS9 Re-launch. It could even be a CGI based show to avoid having to rebuild the expensive sets and cover that they cast has aged during the intervening years.

Re: Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans

I don't want a movie or a TV relaunch. The show was wrapped up too nicely to reopen it. However... if we got an animated Trek series, please give me a revisit to DS9 set prior to the onset of the Dominion conflict.

She comes off well in this brief interview-I think she has a nice way of showing perspective on things. I did not love her in DS9 the first time I watched the series when it first aired but on rewatchings I think she did a better job than I gave her credit for.

Yes, and that is why I am glad DS9 never made it to the movies. It was a great ride, and the bean counters at Paramount would have ruined it.

Nana may have been saying that a movie might not have taken the path the fans might have hoped for. DS9 wrapped perfectly with "What You Leave Behind" - I for one am glad they didn't ruin it with some craptastic film designed by the suits.

Look at TNG - "All Good Things" wrapped up the series perfectly and was a great film. The TNG films kicked AGT to the curb and stomped all over it by killing off Kirk and turning Picard into Kirk-Action Hero and the films into "The Picard And Data Show." The suits and Berman (admitedly under their direction - they paid him, after all) were incapable of producing quality Star Trek theatrical motion pictures. "First Contact" was a decent horror film, but to me it's not a Star Trek film. I know I'm in the minority and don't know what I'm talking about. Whatever.

Re: Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans

^First Contact was a HORROR film? I must have seen a different movie.

Personally, I'd like to see a DS9 movie, but agree that it won't happen.

Re: Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans

^ "First Contact" was just as much a horror film as it was a comedy, action and science-fiction film. ;)

Re: Visitor: DS9 movie would've been "different than most of the fans

"Nemesis" was a horror film-I was horrified at how horrible it was.
