Vinyl Friday™ -anyone?

Dozens of films on my 10(-ish) channels tonight -none of them worthy of watching (or re-watching as the case might be for some of them).

What to do? -go out and spend a small fortune on getting plastered? -Put on a DVD of something I know by heart?

Nope, the best thing is to take a look-see if anyone on the T-BBS is up for another Vinyl Friday™!

For a start I've put on this:

TheRealTaniaMaria-Wild.jpg
But the original vinyl version -the cd cover was merely what came up when I image-googled the title.

Anyone wanna join me? -Drinking isn't compulsory but I'm having a Martini while listening to Tania Maria.

[Canadave]^Brilliant :bolian:

I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I only have that as cd!

I'm also a bit ashamed that I own (and currently listen to) this one:

^ That's kind of awesome, actually. :p

Are the arrangements any good?

It's acceptable, but it does sound a little 'flat'.

ETA: By 'flat' I mean that it does sound more like a 'big-band'-version of the mentioned themes than the actual orchestral versions.

^ Not too shocking, I suppose.

I'm out for now, though, having played through one side of the album, and I have an episode of Fringe to watch. ;)

Somehow Vinyl Friday is only on Fridays I have other things to do. But I decided to participate to show my general support. So I'm listening to this:

Yep, it's the original 1965 stereo version. I bought it second hand for a few bucks. It sounds great, though the record is scratched. I'm glad this is now out on CD (within the Mono Box). I only realised after the box came out that I owned this mix already for years.

Great! I only remember HörZu as the magazine! -Usually we'd get it weekly in order to see what was worth watching on three of the four channels we had on TV back in the day! I'd forgotten all about the records that came from the same source! (one of the earlier Vinyl Friday™-threads holds an image of my Beatles collection)
My grandparents used to have a lot of the "3 x 9" records from the Hörzu brand...

On subject (or close): listening to:

The HörZu versions of Beatles records have quite a reputation. Their stereo version of the albums "Please Please Me" (called "Die Beatles - Die zentrale Tanzschaffe der weltberühmten Vier aus Liverpool" because the original title was apparently too complicated ;)) and "Magical Mystery Tour" are often regarded as the best stereo version of those albums. And their version of "Help!" has the original 1965 stereo mix.

Oh, and Peter Maffay? :wtf:

Hi ~ too late for Vinyl Friday, bloody son came home wanting his machine and now it's too late for me to unplug and replug everything:(. But I will go out next week and search the charity shops for new vinyl surprises:)

Why don't you just let the thing(s) be 'plugged' all of the time? shouldnt be too impossible. as I understand the things with the wires....
