I've only just come home, so imagine my surprise to see the party hadn't started yet!

And for newcomers: There was a democratic process in place to figure out which Friday of this December was most suited for the X-mas Edition -this day was chosen!

What's it all about I hear people mumbling... well basically you just put on your vinyl records and pour yourself a mug/glass of whatever seasonal poison is to your taste and then share the experience of the excellent sound reproduction of real HI-FI with your fellow T-BBS'ers in this thread!

Personally I've just come home after another busy day of doing nothing all over town; last thing was a short stop-over at my parents place where I noticed dad having some of their Dr. Hook on... sooo now I'm listening to one of my Dr. Hook albums:

I was waiting for this to show up. :)

As the CD editions of Paul McCartney's 70s albums leave a lot to be desired, they're finally coming out in a remastered version staying truer to the original. In fact, the super deluxe version of Band On The Run even included High Resolution audio files that were unlimited and sound pretty much like the vinyl.
That's why I've decided to listen to Venus and Mars, the album that succeeded Band On The Run. I've found myself thinking how I really want this album to get the treatment next but it'll be a while, it seems.

The only thing McCartney, apart from a few Beatles albums, that I have is Wings Over America -which I dislike tremendously... Maybe I should try listening to some of the other stuff :bolian:

This album:

Was the default reference album in any Hi-Fi store when I was... I mean... once upon a time...

Not strange it is a default Vinyl Friday™-album for me to be listening to right now :)

I really should plug those headphones in...

Oh, yeah, having a Martini, didn't have any lemons so it's the classic with the pimento'ed olive... and since my gin bottle is standing next to my vermouth bottle I believe that's enough of the vermouth to make a good Martini

One of the strange/funny/nice/weird/happening right now things about a Vinyl Friday™ thread is that you get to post about a lot of music that you're listening to... but you get to do it real time and in more detail than in any ol' 'what are you listening to' thread since you're bound to be talking about music that you wilfully and laboriously set yourself to listen to... It takes more than a click on a mouse to put on some vinyl!

Another blast from my past is on at the moment (don't think I'm in the mood for all four sides though):

ETA: put on the headphones -not that it matters much with this album though...

Or maybe not because what Wings played on this tour is mainly stuff from their albums up until that time, i.e. Red Rose Speedway (well, just My Love), Band On The Run, Venus and Mars and At The Speed of Sound. ;)
I always thought that the songs from Band on the Run, especially the title track, profited considerably from there being a real, pretty good drummer on the tour. (Paul did the drumming on Band on the Rum himself, and, well, it's a bit unimaginative). I personally think Band on the Run is a masterpiece and I always liked Wings Over America, but tastes obviously differ. Besides, all those 70s albums suffer from bad sound quality so you might not enjoy them at all.

From a galaxy far, far away {Denmark} - in a time far, far away {1982} I'm now listening to yet another relic from my youth (I need to get some newer albums  ); Taurus Version Two -or as they called themselves: "TV•2 -the only alternative to public Danish broadcasting":

TV2-VerdenerVIDunderligx750.jpg

They sang in Danish and were the biggest thing since Shubidua ( :guffaw: ) -but they did great post-modern lyrics like this:

Rundfunk Freie Europa
(Text by Bertolt Brecht)

Iss bin zu Hause und iss liebe diss
Iss bin zu Hause an der Eben Ezer
Iss bin zufrieden und iss liebe diss

Iss bin nischt gern wo iss herkomme
Iss bin nischt gern wo iss hinfahre
Iss bin nischt über und ist bin nischt unter
Iss bin zu Hause und iss liebe diss

Actually it's been several years since I listened to that Wings album of mine, I might simply need to try it once again! :)

Oh, come on people! -this event shouldn't end in me being told by TPTB to refrain from opening Vinyl Friday™ threads!
So many geeks in one place -and none of you are interested in a good ol' trip down vinyl road? -I refuse to believe it!

-Been through...

RedhotAndBlue.jpg

and...

AtomHeartMother.jpg

and and now about to turn...

MikeOldfield-QE2.jpg

...over!

Come on now! -Put on a record!

Oh Guys, I'm so sorry I missed our Vinyl Friday date. But bizarrely, because of the situation, I have been playing...
Ok,
... well it started with Black Sabbeth,
A little David Essex,
And a lot of Queen.

When you 'face up' to your man I find Ozzie quite good in the background.
When you are planning a 'coup' at work ~ I find David relaxing.
And whilst telling your son what a *insert what you will here* I find "From father to Son" Queen II ~ extremely sarcastic.

I am sorry I missed the gig, but it is nearly 2.30 am now and I'm due in work in the morn.

But ~ All Hail the Vinyl Champions.

for going to bed music I choose this album:

Thanks all; the Vinyl Friday™ - 2010 X-mas Edition has been...

Somehow I don't believe this was written by Bertolt Brecht. ;)

I felt sorry for abandoning Vinyl Friday so early but I was sick all day and went to bed soon after listening to only one LP.

^I'm sure he was a considerably better speller :rommie:

Well, we had the day/evening and no mater where you were and what you did, the love of vinyl remains the important part :bolian:

Get well CZ! -and- good to hear you've had good use of some vinyl K'eh!
