Video previews of AA/DST's TOS tricorders

Not a bad replication--thanks for posting. I wonder how the AA version compares to the MR...

Thanks for pointing out those clips. I don't often visit Art Asylum, so I probably wouldn't have discovered them for a while.

Wished they had demonstrated McCoy's scanner, though.

Sincerely,

Bill

About 10% the cost for about the same level of accuracy, plus the security of knowing that if you drop it on a hard floor, it won't shatter into a hundred ovepriced bits.

Yeah, I am very impressed and can't wait for May (I already have mine on preorder).

Their phaser and communicator were excellent as well!

Nice! I'm going to see about picking one of these up then. I also like how they made two versions: science and medical.

Well, not quite the same level of accuracy. The master for the AA tricorder was the version HMS built for "Trials and Tribbleations", which has some notable differences from the TOS version; for instance, the view screen is a little too narrow, the speaker grille is too tall, the buttons and jewels (replaced here by LEDs) are wrong, and the whole thing is about a quarter of an inch too tall. Still, it's hard to notice, and for the price, I'm not complaining. :techman:

As has been documented repeatedly, the original props weren't even consistent with each other (one of the hazards of their being handmade), so accuracy in this case is a relative thing.

Yeah, Captain.... the away team hat trick;)

I just have to replace the batteries in both from their 'originals' and I'm good to go.

That and solder the grid together again....stupid snapping in half because I wanted to do the 'Kirk flip'.
