Victoria Jennifer Johnson (The Ladies' Thread)

I think this thread and the Peter Johnson Wang thread should be merged. ;)

Over and over again, until the mods need a cigarette...

"Jane"- I love it. :techman:

Okay, ladies, a women's issue. Do any of you having sudden crying fits for no reason just before Auntie Flo visits? Last night I woke up around 2 a.m., and cried for five minutes. No idea where it came from. I hope it's just an unusual hormone surge and not my medicine losing its effectiveness. :( I was absolutely chipper today.

Yeah, that does happen to me - I often can't sleep the few days before my period because I'm lying awake worrying about a subject that normally wouldn't even concern me. Three o'clock in the morning's no time to be sitting in the dark worrying.

I used to eat some chocolate as a pre-menstrual stress cure, but recently it's been making things worse so I've had to stop eating it completely (except for the occasional treat of this gorgeous chocolate made in Vancouver - it doesn't seem to set me off as much).

^I find it's only a day or two before it hits; there will be one day when I simply can NOT sleep. It's like a sudden rush of adrenaline in the middle of the night. Not pleasant.

Usually, I will be very emotional over things that already are stressing me out, or I'll get very weepy over things that are only slightly sad---like watching a movie will reduce me to tears, where any other time, I would've just said, "Gee, that's sad."

^Yeah, that sounds like me right about now. The Mets got pummled by the Nats today, and I thought I was going to cry! I never cry about baseball games! There's no crying in baseball. :p

I get insomnia pretty bad at this time too, but the sudden crying in the middle of the night is totally new.

^I wish I could help, I really know your pain. Insomnia's plagued me for years, to the point where I needed doctor administered sedatives. I once went 7 days without sleep.

I try the standard tips: stick to a schedule, have a bedtime routine, don't do anything in bed but sleep (I even insisted on having sex on couches, rugs, chairs, the table...for months), no caffeine after noon. Sometimes they help a bit, but really, I'm at a loss.

I had a doctor advise soaking my hands or feet in very hot water before going to bed. It's very relaxing. I've also started to be much more aware of my caffeine intake. I'm a real soda junkie, so I try to limit how much I drink and make sure I don't drink any past 3 pm if I have to get up early the next day.

Note to self: don't touch ANYTHING at tsq's place.

I guess I killed the thread. :(

Insomnia is REALLY bad right now. :( Any suggestions?

I think it might help if you have some insight into what it is that's keeping you up. Mind racing? Physical discomfort? Noises, lack of routine, anything else?

Another tip for insomniacs is to do a chore you dislike. I am not particularly fond of scrubbing surfaces, and I have severe insomnia. I assure you, my place is clean!

Haven't had any changes in my routine, though the weather has been dry and hot, so that might be a factor...

I'm already on several medications- last thing I need is a sleep aid!

Might try that soaking feet before bed- could work!
