Victoria Jennifer Johnson (The Ladies' Thread)

Using her pussy to trick guys for whatever purpose...teasing with her pussy...etc.

If she means her "face" then she shouldn't have used the term "muffin" that is asinine.

[edit] Plus she points to her crotch in the video.

Yes, it's a perfect example of a word that can be spat, but it is uniformly negative in its connotations and I'm not looking to reclaim it as our own.
Not necessarily. In a somewhat antiquated but nevertheless still sometimes used connotation it can be a "friendly insult" if you know what I mean, as in "You silly cunt".
In my experience, the word "cunt" is used in that sense more by gay men toward other gay men than by (or toward) women.

Can anyone explain why a lot of women have no problem with hearing -- and using -- "fuck" and "shit" and most of the common sexual and excretory vulgarisms, but they absolutely loathe the c-word?

To women it's kind of like the "n" word--it was used to degrade women, hence the hatred of the word by many women. (Of course, like some black people and the "n" word, not all women are for a complete ban on the word, but still.)

In my experience, it's been used in that sense more by British men towards their friends, which makes me seriously question the differentiation between British and gay... ...hold on, I'm British, for the most part.

Anyhow, I didn't know it was used to degrade women, I thought it was just a very vulgar and derogatory term for their reproductive organs.

It had been around much longer than that, despite whatever hate you wanna dump on Grey's Anatomy. Elliot on Scrubs used to use it, for example. And yeah, it's really childish either way. Think of people that use it almost as highly as those that throw around the word "preggers" in normal conversation...

Not tryin' to hate on a show, just sayin' that the first time I heard veejayjay, it was because of that show, confirmed by the interview where it was asked why they had to create a new word for vagina.

If anything, I'm hatin' on ABC/Disney censors for insistin' that a medical drama couldn't use vagina in dialogue in the first place.

^^Well, the power behind the word comes from a sort of synecdoche. The ultimate insult is to accuse somebody of being a woman's genetalia - and by extension, a woman reduced to her perceived sexual function. The association is intended to be degrading or humiliating.

That's pretty fucked up when you think about it.

But then again, you also say "You're a dick". It'd be more fucked up if you could only say "You're a dick" and not also "You're a cunt", because that would imply that male genitalia are bad and their female counterparts aren't. You don't hear us complaining about the terms dick or dickhead.

^ I guess it's something to do with a kind of old-fashioned chivalry still embedded in society that frowns on giving a woman the same rough treatment that you would a man.

You see, and that's the problem. I don't have a problem with gender equality, in fact I'm one of its greatest proponents. BUT I have exactly as much hatred for feminism as I have for chauvinism.

Feminism isn't the same as militant man-hating, though some ultra man-hating feminists would have people think so. True feminism is about gender equality and nothing else.

That said, one of my favorite jokes goes:

Q:How many feminists does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A:THAT'S NOT FUNNY!

It's difficult to explain, but it goes beyond just chivalry towards women, there's a connotation of hatred in the word and in it's objectification of women that carries with it the association of sexual assault and rape. You can say it's silly to associate all that with just a word, but it's what happens.

George is right, it is used by British men as a friendly insult to their friends - but only their male friends. I do not think "cunt" can successfully used as a joking phrase to a woman.

^^ I thought my "Jane" idea was brilliant. :(

Actually so do I! I meant to go back and comment on it, but it's dinner-time so I've been distracted.

Particularly useful (and I know you've already thought of this :)) for the added euphemism of "Fun with Dick and Jane"
