VHS Copying Generation Loss

Everyone knows you can't make a copy of a copy. The first copy amplifies flaws in the original and the copy-of-a-copy simply compounds the flaws and so on.

Turns out the "Angry Video Game Nerd" once did an experiment on VHS Generation Loss.

That's pretty cool. You could see obvious generational loss between the first and second copies even on compressed video. (of course compressing the video probably amplified the flaws)
 
It's the signal loss between the generations. Each time you only get ~80% of the original signal, so it gradually gets less and less.

That's why I love digital technology. :)
