It was debunked?

Darth Vader and Miss Piggy both get cameos - as reflections in Spock's faceplate, IIRC. The SPFX guys pointed these out in interviews at the time.

I don't recall seeing interviews with people who worked on the effects who claimed that. And while I can see something that looks vaguely like Piggy, the only "Vader" I see is the aforementioned "dark gap between parts of the 'data pattern'ed Epsilon Nine station".
