Venusian Shipyards?

It's not about whether it's possible, it's about why you'd even bother. I mean, think about it. There are hundreds of member planets in the Federation -- they can't all have exactly 9.8 m/s^2 surface gravity. There must be plenty that are in the 0.9-1.1 g range, and humans live on them just fine. It's close enough that it doesn't need to be "fixed," because there's nothing wrong with it.

Heck, if anything, a moderately reduced gravity like Venus's might even be beneficial for human health, because it would reduce strain on the heart and skeleton and joints. People might actually be better off in 91% gravity than 100%.
Fair enough.

...Thinking about the op, I can think of a great reason to use Venusian orbit for ship building: you can dump all your construction garbage to the surface and not worry about it. Venus is already basically hell, so you're not really going to make it any worse.

Until the native Venusians who think the hellish climate is heavenly, come up to strike back at whoever has been bombing them with their trash.

I wonder if we’ll find out in the coming years that any more than marginal long-term difference in gravity would have ill effects on the body.

I remember in one of the Shatner novels too I think it was a human raised in a lighter gravity environment grew a lot taller than normal. I wonder what effects those differences have on ship/habitat design.
