Can't argue with that, it was a great episode.
I also enjoyed this weeks ep "Momma's Boys" alot as well. Lot of call backs to previous eps. Wasn't really surprised that Myra wasn't the boys real mom. Also thought it was interesting that they had Dermot find out that Rusty was his dad, and revealing that to him and the boys. Will be interesting to see how that's followed up on.
Regarding next weeks ep....it has the OSI "hot on the trail" of The Guild. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall an ep. where they talked about the need for The Guild....something along the lines of there needing to be some kind of order in a world where people have super powers or can invent death rays and shit? That The Guild and all those by laws helped keep this kind of stuff from going ape shit and destroying the world?
Also, is it just me, or are they using computer objects these days? The X1 two weeks ago and the hover tank and jeep when it exits hover tank, were cg. Didn't have any problem with it, just seemed to stand out a bit.
Maybe the Guild is going beyond those nebulous terms of agreement and beginning to cause a serious power shift that could truly threaten the planet. Either that or the writers just said, "Aww, screw it. We have a neat idea for a story; let's go with it."
Oddly enough, I keep tricking myself into thinking this is "Venture Bros." last season. But then I remember, "No, it's 'Futurama' that is concluding." I don't know why I keep thinking that.

Did a little reading up on past seasons (damn that long wait between them) and season 4's finale involved Guild mole's in the OSI, but it didn't go into much detail as to the why's.
On the downside, this season only has 9 episodes....but I read that the hour long premiere counts as two episodes...which means there's only two episodes left. Apparently season 6 will be 9 as well.
It sucks, but at least we'll be getting more eps. While I appreciate that Venture Brothers is done in traditional animation, I wonder if there's not some way they could transition that over to Flash or whatevers being used these days, while still retaining the look of the show.
The long gaps can't be helping the show and I'd like to see where these characters go and for them to be able to wrap things up in a satisfactory manner. With the recent developments it just feels like there's enough life in the show for a few more seasons.

Yes. Over the years more and more clues have been dropped that the guild is not really an organization to enable super villains. It's an organization to control them.
That being said while I appreciated that this episode brought forth some major plot resolutions regarding Dermot and Rusty and hank and Dean's mother I can't say I enjoyed it from a comedic sense. It was probably the weakest episode of the season so far.
How heavy are disco balls? It would have to be cast iron to hammer him into the ground... He's inside the ball? Or does Rusty's death activate the dormant Rusty protocols inside the Monarch?
Merciful Mogg, Dr. Girlfriend sure looked fine in her "mock" imperial Chinese robes! (Not that she ever looked bad in anything she sported.) And, yes, I realized The Monarch's was almost detail for detail, Ming's ensemble from the 1980 version of Flash Gordon, certainly the collar section, anyway.

Dr. Girlfriends outfit was Padme's outfit from The Phantom Menace.
Overall I was a bit underwhelmed by this finale and the season as a whole. Maybe I need to watch it all again on the tail end of a series re-watch. I didn't care for 21 going back to the Monarch though. At times he was a cool bad ass who could fly solo....at other times he was a cool bad ass who couldn't function efficiently without being part of a larger group (see his screw up with the OSI undercover operation)
I suppose it fits in with the overall theme of "failure"....
I did like the scene at the end with Hank and Dean, it was actually touching.
Finally got a good look at the photo of the Monarch as a child. It looks innocent enough....or it could be showing Jonas trying to "steal" Monarch's mom while Rusty is "stealing" Monarch's toy truck. In essence capturing the basic nature of the Ventures.
The scene where Rusty and The Monarch bemoan the current state of their lives was enjoyable. It almost seems like The Monarch's run out of steam, but is expected to hate on Rusty and so continues out of habit.
IIRC, the show was guaranteed a season five, six and a movie length episode. If season six is the last one, it'll have a reduced episode count while trying to wrap it all up. I hope they can pull it off as well as they did the season 4 finale which I believe was intended to serve as a series finale in the event the show didn't get picked up again, and it does work in that regard.
Also, I hope we don't have to wait for another two or three years for season 6.

Yeah. It wasn't bad, it just didn't feel like a season ender. The guys apparently said at SDCC that this leads into the season opener which will be more like a traditional season finale.

An observation....it's possible that Vendata could be the Monarch's father. Maybe. At the end of last weeks ep, he staggers in and mentions something about the plane going down or something and wonders where his wife is.
The Monarch's parents died in a plane crash. It's possible that Jonas Venture tried to keep his friend alive as a cyborg.
Or it could all be bullshit
Crap, here I was thinking Vendata was Major Tom - which now that I think about it makes no sense since his body was still stuck at the bottom of the ocean in season one.
Vendata being The Monach's dad makes almost too perfect sense, good catch.
Another random thought; While Gary going back to the Monachs does feel like the only option he had left really, anyone else suspect/maybe hope that he might be an OSI plant?

Well, as you can see from the date stamp of my previous quote....we did. So any fans still left watching?
My quick thoughts on Season 6:
I'm enjoying it a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. In "All This And Gargantua 2" we see the Venture Compound utterly destroyed, the Ventures rich and moving to New York City. My fear then, which was confirmed, is that we would be leaving behind all the 60s - 70s era tech and design sensibilities that was one of the enduring and endearing elements of the show. It added to the "failure" aspect to the show in the same way that it did in "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou", where our heroes have outdated tech which they barely get by with, while everyone else seems to have the modern stuff.
So I wasn't sure how I was going to like the Ventures having state of the art tech, a shit load of money and the show being in an all new location.
Turns out I'm loving the hell out of it!
This season has been surprisingly good imo, the animation is the best it's ever been. Brock is back! Enjoying all the superhero parodies, loving the Blue Morpho stuff (love all the design elements there) . They seem to have jettisoned Dermot, I was getting used to him. I am starting to enjoy St. Cloud more though.
The sequence where Venture Sr. and Blue Morpho get their freak on with the ladies led to speculate (like TemporalFlux did years ago) that maybe The Monarch is really Jonas' kid while Rusty is the kid of Blue Morpho.
I still tend to think that they're brothers or half brothers and that it will be revealed at the end that the shows title referred to Rusty and Monarch and not Hank and Dean. Time will tell. I'd like to rewatch this season and give some thoughts to specific eps.
Overall this season has felt more satisfying to me than season 5, but it sucks that there's only three new episodes left. I miss the 13 episode seasons. 8 episodes a season with a two year wait is a tough way to keep momentum going. This is a show with a huge universe rife with stories for the telling. It could easily go for a long time, but the long wait between seasons and the short episode count really make it hard for the show to keep going much longer. All I hope is that we get a proper series finale' when the show does end, and maybe a comic book series or something after that.
So you fans that are still watching....what do you think of the season so far?

I think its great, better than Season 5 so far (although I liked Season 5 a lot, too). I don't really care about Hank's romantic storyline, and I'm sure if they give it a whole episode it will be outright annoying, but the rest of the stuff is solid. The Blue Morpho stuff is great. The Monarch and 21 are my favorite characters on the show, and their stuff is hilarious as always. It sucks that there is only three episodes left (it feels like they could do a lot more with the stories), but I'm excited to see every episode.
