Venture Bros. Season 4

Jackson Public has reported that the season opener for The Venture Bros. will be October 18, at midnight (that's the 18th going into the 19th) on Adult Swim. Depending on what time zone you live in, it might be an hour off.

The first 8 episodes will run, then they'll have a break, and the final 8 episodes will air sometime in the spring. I like that they are spreading it out a bit, so they have extra time to craft the show (and give us 3 more episodes, too!). I just hope TPTB don't get all money grubbing and go the BSG route with DVD sets.

I'll probably set up the review thread Saturday the 17th.

I too am glad there will be a slightly longer season. Glad to hear it's coming soon also.

Can't wait. S3 didn't have quite the same impact as S2 or even S1 (despite some really strong individual eps), but I still loved it, and am confident I'll love S4.

My one hope is that the Blu-rays are better done this time. The S3 blu-rayization, or whatever the term is, was either cheap, or never ought to have been done, because any movement looks like shit.

Yeah, Season 3 was a let-down after the first two brilliant seasons. I hope they follow up on some of the plot threads started in Season 3, like the O.R.B. which was never fully explained.

My take on season three is that it was a lot better the second time watching it (it also made a hellva lot more sense).

I think the problem with it was that it wasn't very focused in terms of a season long story and didn't necessarily build towards anything. That, in itself, isn't a bad thing, but it was a change in tone from the first two years that made the season feel uneven.

I also think there was a problem from the fan perspective with fans trying too hard to see how everything fits or looking for twists that are not there. I'm not judging on this because I did it too. It goes back to the previous two seasons where there were hints of stuff that one would miss the first time through, but catch after seeing the whole season. Since this season didn't have a forward overarching arc, there was very little of that and made the season feel crammed since every episode was it's own side adventure.

Last season also featured many episodes that was entirely backstory. That by itself isn't bad, but it was a lot in a short period of time and it kind of gave the feeling that the Venture family became guest stars in their own home.

In summation, season three had a lot of good laughs, but the direction and focus was very different that it put off a lot of Venture fans and felt like a letdown.

Season 3 made alot of sense, it took the charaters from it's universe and explained alot of the interconnected relationships that were going on in the background of the first 2 seasons, every show that has any charater depth or complexity at all usualy has episodes like the majority of S3 spaced out over it's run, the reason S3 was mostly charater exposition is due to it's unusualy large cast and thier deeply inter-woven histories

I really liked S3 aside from the do-nothing finale that didn't build on what the entire season was leading up to.

So how long does anything think the whole "all the clones are now gone" thing is going to last?

Not to sure about Sargent Hatred becoming the new body-guard. Seems like a very one-note character, whose appearances is just going to be a string of pedophile jokes.

Well if you listen to the DragonCon (09) interviews they don't out and rule out the idea, but they do say that the boys are going to be "real" boys now (or something along those lines). And OSI did seemed pissed over the cloning operation in last year finale, so who's to say.

Now the preview did show the clone vats up and holing fetal clones, but that could be anything.

The writers have mentioned how the boys are not going to start aging, which can be seen in the trailer (particularly with Hank's longer hair).

I'm not a big fan of the character myself, then again, I don't care for it when shows over-do it on pedophile jokes. I'm willing to give it a chance (assuming that Hatred is the new bodyguard for an extended period).

And that Nazi fella. I presume there's going to be some sort of cloning-Hitler-type episode, particularly given Dean's "I love Hitler and Hitler loves me!" speech.
