We kinda already have a thread for venting, HERE.

Don't use Facebook, period. Have someone else watch FB for defamatory content. If it is libelous, you can sue. Otherwise, have no interaction with the person whatsoever. But........I have to echo @teacake cake's post; why on EARTH would you breed animals for pets when we are knee-deep in unwanted animals already??!! Shelters worldwide are bursting at the seams. How can anyone in good conscience create a "pet mill" in this day and age? Don't do it.

If you love a particular breed I suggest becoming a rescue person for that breed where you will take in any abandoned pets of that breed and foster them until they can be rehomed. That keeps that breed, in your area, out of the pound and keeps it from being euthanized.

Definitely. I can't imagine having to turn off my emotions enough to breed and sell animals. But working with rescue animals is incredibly fulfilling. I used to volunteer at a shelter for special-needs cats, and there were two there that I'd have adopted thisfast if I'd had the money and if my landlady would have allowed me to have four cats.

I used to be friends with a woman who had guinea pigs. She started with two, and at some point decided to raise them to sell to pet stores. I'm ashamed to admit to helping with this, on a couple of trips (between Red Deer and Edmonton), but that was before she got so many.

When things got to the point where her living room contained 5 birds, a tank of fish, and 46 guinea pigs (plus the turtles in the bathtub in the bathroom) and the whole place stank, I reported her to the local bylaw enforcement. They said there were no laws regarding any pet mills other than dogs and cats, but when I told them about the 46 guinea pigs and her unlicensed breeding operation, they agreed that they should at least take a look at the situation.

I don't know what came of that; the friendship went south for several reasons and I hope that at the very least she had to get a license to breed those animals.
