Lately, my stomach has been upset (acid reflux/indigestion). Although I already take prescription Prilosec twice a day, I still need to make improvements to my health, like losing some weight and trying to avoid spicy and sour foods (and this isn't always easy). I've got a Pepto Bismol at my desk at the moment.

On a different note, I was sad to find out that I didn't qualify for Sick Leave Buy Back at work this time. :( My employer has this program in which employees who use 18 hours or fewer of Sick Leave in the period of six months (January - June, July - December) can sell (cash out) or convert up to 16 hours of Sick Leave into Vacation time, which I was hoping to do. I was even positive I was going to get my authorization form today when some of my co-workers got theirs. As it turned out, I miscalculated and had used more Sick Leave the last six months than I originally expected. :scream: I was really hoping to have two extra calendar days added to my Vacation bank. Oh, well.

Sorry to hear about your stomach problems. I had those myself a few years ago and after several misdiagnoses, an ER doctor asked me if I had ever had a sonogram on my gall bladder. No other doctor had ever suggested it. I had the sonogram done and within two weeks the surgery to remove the gall bladder was performed. Haven't had to do the pepto or other meds since then.

And just take the extra two days you wanted as a "mental health" day with your sick leave.

Have you had an endoscopy done? If you haven't, you should. I had stomach problems (still do), and it turns out I have a hiatal hernia; in other words, my stomach is pushing through my diaphragm. One of my regular docs thought it was an ulcer and the other figured out something else might be wrong when my drastic diet didn't seem to help a bit. So he sent me to a gastroenterologist and that doc found out I had the hiatal hernia.

I'm now on three tablets of OTC Prilosec twice a day and eating a normal diet. I was so thrilled the day after the endoscopy when I could eat salad again! I hadn't had raw vegetables in one year!

^ Thanks. I had one done, and it was several years ago. I remember having an outpatient procedure done wherein they gave me a sedative and inserted a tube down my esophagus to view my stomach. They noticed some redness caused by too much acid, no doubt, but no ulcers were ever found. That's when my doctor at the time prescribed Prilosec. Prior to that, I had also had an upper GI X-ray done as well as a CAT scan (I recall drinking the chalky white substance before the procedure).
