I watched the episode when I was drawing that cartoon.
It moved pretty darn quick, so I'm sure it had to be one of those Zero Turning Lawnmowers.

It was definitely motorized. Based on its size, weight ,horse power and its suspension (it was bouncy), it looks to me to be either a six wheel buggy or a tracked chassis. Probably not a lawnmower.

    Here's one example of a 1972 Attex:

Quite possibly. I remember it being faster than Lee Majors in it's zero radius turns.
So, maybe not a lawnmower, but definitely using that style of locomotion.
And given that it was practically on top of Lee Majors at times, the agility of one of those lawnmowers was almost a requirement.

Frankly, I can see someone watching one of those mowers, and thinking. "Yeah! I can use that for a Robot!"

Oh well. I like robots that aren't obviously a man in a suit. But maybe that's just me.

Vasquez Rocks was in need of a Trek link before this?

I think Therin was trying to connect the surname Vasquez to Trek, although he's chosen a hell of a roundabout way to do it. I'm surprised that there haven't been any characters, actors, or crew members named Vasquez associated with any Trek series or movie, at least not significantly enough to get a Memory Alpha listing.

The Littlest Angel: Hallmark Christmas special, 1969, starring Johnny Whitaker and Fred Gwynne. The rock formations are climbed on, not just seen, in the first act. The angled outcropping and high cliff in "Arena" are very prominent.

Vasquez Rocks doubles as "Tibet" in the opening moments of WEREWOLF OF LONDON (1935).

Me too. That could have given Lou’s Hulk a problem.

The heat ray/ energy beams in this series had nice sound effects I haven’t heard before or since.

Is the guy in that ad intentionally dressed like a redshirt?

Wait, he can't be, because the ad predates redshirts...

My god, maybe he's the first documented instance of a redshirt!!!

Of course, the one western where Vasquenz Rocks would be most appropiate would be the Stories of the Century episode "Tiburcio Vasquez".
