He-man and Thundercats I watched them but have no memories since I was too young

I watched so many different things, from the Jetsons, Scooby Do, Flintstones, Batman 66, GI Joe, Ghostbusters, that it all blends together. I'm 36 but I honestly couldn't tell you the time when those were released, aside from Batman.
You couldn't tell when Batman 66 was released?

Yikes. When I saw the IGN article, which just said "a member of the production", it didn't even occur to me it could be Batman himself.

I wonder if they if they'll charge him for the shutdown costs? Presumably all of these big movies that restarted shooting recently added clauses to the actors contacts requiring them to be social distancing rather than out partying every night.

That hardly seems fair. We don't know how he got exposed, so there's no reason to jump to the conclusion that he was reckless. People can be exposed in any number of ways even when they take precautions. Just working on a film set is bound to be risky for everyone involved.

Damn, that's the second WB/DC movie lead in a week to test positive. At least Dwayne Johnson wasn't in the middle of filming Black Adam.

So while WB and Christopher Nolan are trying to force people to see Tennet in theaters, even banning Drive Ins from showing it if no regular theaters in the area are showing it, they can't even shoot a damn movie, under safety constraints, without the star getting infected.

I agree with you completely on this point. I feel badly for people who make a living wage off of movies, either making them or working in the theatres. But I have a hard time believing any movie is worth risking infection for at this point; and all the movies are shown in cineplexes these days so I don't feel badly for the big studios nor the corporations that run the theatres.

As much as I love seeing big blockbusters on the big screen a couple of times a year, a big part of me hopes this has a reboot effect on the industry and we get more lower budget quality movies in the future. You know, Indy films.

I mean, I personally hate Indy films and think that there are way too many of them a year, and I doubt normal movie theaters will ever waste space on them, pandemic or not. The film industry would be ruined if that stuff took more of a hold, but luckily the majority of people don't give a shit about indy films, so they won't be taking any spots from normal movies once its safe to go see normal movies.

But, shitty indy or not, no film is worth seeing right now. There is no film that I want to see that is worth risking my health for, period, and its pretty gross how WB has been trying to force people back into theaters. Pattinson getting infected shows that no function with a lot of people is safe, and theaters are going to be a lot more dangerous then a (presumably) closed movie set with stringent safety rules.

Can't really disagree with that. I'm very eager to see Wonder Woman 1984 and No Time to Die, but if they keep their current theatrical release dates, I doubt I'll be going. :(

If new mutants had better reviews I'd definitely head to the drive in to see it. Il definitely do so for one of these big movies.

I am not telling anyone what they should or should not do. But consider that all open theaters in the US are limiting the amount of seats open to buy for each screen. Plus great given the real concerns few are even buying those tickets.

When my local theater reopened 3 weeks ago I saw Empire Strikes Back there was only 3 or 4 other people. All in our own rows except the father and his young daughter.

After I finished my popcorn I wore my mask rest of film. I have been working all year as a janitor even before masks were required. The factory had one one person sitting to a table in the break room. Once masks were clearly needed, the longer you wear the easy it is to get use to it. I wear it for most of a 8 hour shift, even when alone in a building. More it’s on the less you think about it at all.

Glasses ? More than ever I am glad I wear contacts. I know those can be a hassle. Unless it’s impossible for you to wear contacts - this might be a good reason to give it a try. Screw movies - wear only when you need a mask - like at work or shopping.

I am thinking of seeing Tenet. Only 7 seats are purchased. Later showing even few I imagine. Not sure I want to see that movie though.

If it helps, back in the Seventies Indy films were just called movies....

But lower budget productions have given us our best directors and writers. Spielberg, Lucas, Scorcese, the Coen Brothers, Jarmusch, Cronenberg, Demme, Wenders, Tarentino, Lynch, Boyle. More recently Jordan Peele, Aster, Wan, Joon Ho. These are all genre film makers who started out making low budget movies that are rarely produced today.

The former sentence rather disproves the latter. There are still plenty of low-budget movies being made and distributed; they just get overshadowed by the big-ticket blockbusters. (Or so a movie-critic Facebook friend of mine insists frequently as he tries to get people to pay attention to such movies.)
