News Variety Reports Robert Pattinson is the new Batman

This movie really is going to be awful, isn't it?
I'm not real familiar with Robert Patinson, but the rest of the cast is awesome, even if they are not people who would immediately leap to mind for their characters, and I loved Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and War for The Planet of the Apes, which were both directed by Matt Reeves so I'm going into this very optimistic.

Which makes you think. Who could Jeff Bridges play in the DC universe or Batman movie?

I'd have to think about a Batman role but I always thought that in Iron Man he was basically a better Lex Luthor than we've ever seen on the big screen.

I wonder what sort of Batman he would've made in the 1989 film?

If they were going to have Maxie Zeus, I would love to see them go meta and get either Sean Bean, or Liam Neeson.
I just realized that Sean Bean has never done a superhero movie. With all of the SFF stuff he's done over the years, this is a big surprise.

I've seen it said by film buffs that both Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are actually very good actors who are unfairly condemned by people who have no evidence beyond Twilight. I can believe that. If you'd only seen Natalie Portman in Star Wars, you'd think she was a bad actress, and she isn't. Sometimes actors give bad performances because they aren't directed well, or because they have weak material. Heck, I thought Scarlett Johansson was the weakest actor in Iron Man 2, but it turned out she just had the shallowest character. Once The Avengers came along and she was given a role with actual substance, she blew me away, and she's been invaluable to the MCU franchise ever since. It just goes to show -- first impressions should only be where you start forming your opinions, not where you stop.

Besides, it's been 11 years since Twilight, 7 years since the conclusion of the series. Actors can grow and improve. When I first saw Ryan Gosling in the Young Hercules TV series, I thought he was terrible. I was really surprised when he went on to be this acclaimed, in-demand movie actor. Apparently he got better.

People just like to be pissy about Twilight because Ed Cullen & family aren't evil vampires, but benevolent ones who take blood from animals and not human beings (yes, I've read the first book.) But guess what, fellow older people? Stephanie Meyer wasn't writing Twilight to appeal to us, but to younger people, and there's nothing that says vampires have to be evil. And I don't think a royal person should be anything or anybody but a person who acts and speaks the way that Amidala did.

I don't remember, but I still think he would've been ideal for the role if he'd had better material.

Of that, I have no argument; Clooney was a good Bruce Wayne and would have made a great Batman, but for what Schumacher did in bringing back the 1960's TV series as a big budget movie, complete with the cheesy dialogue, silly villains, and over-the-top sets (who the fuck ever heard of urban gangs in DayGlo/black light colors and environments having equally cheesy-looking Fast & Furious-style motorbike races? Or any of the other stuff shown in the previous movie?)*

*Looking back now, it's not too bad, especially if you keep in mind it and its predecessor movie were meant to evoke the '60's show, but I can see how people regarded it at the time. (And yet now, people want that to come back, so I've heard, due to how they hated BVS: Dawn Of Justice.)

There's a rumor about the batsuit which is based on Batman: Nöel..... just a grain of salt.

https://www.comicbookmovie.com/batm...eresting-new-look-for-the-dark-knight-a172449

With shooting set to begin on The Batman within a matter of weeks, a Batsuit reveal from Matt Reeves' DC Comics adaptation is expected to arrive online imminently. In the meantime, a new report may shed some light on what Robert Pattinson will look like in the Caped Crusader's costume.

According to former Variety reporter Kris Tapley in a now-deleted Tweet, the new big screen Batsuit will resemble the one by artist Lee Bermejo. He's provided a very unique take on that over the years and some fans were quick to point out that he shared fan-art of Pattinson in his Batman: Nöel Batsuit not too long ago, so perhaps he's been involved in the process from a creative standpoint.

Bermejo's Batsuit is certainly one fans would like to see on the big screen and it's definitely a lot different to what we've previously seen on the big screen and would likely fit Reeves' aesthetic.

This is just a rumour for now, of course, but an official reveal is bound to come our way sooner rather than later and it might just break the internet if this new report is to be believed. We'll see!

They're filming in Liverpool?
So how many different cities have "played" Gotham in the live action shows and movies?

(Just to stir the pot)

Unless it’s a flashback scene, those cars suggest a period early enough for the new Batman to be the earlier version of Batfleck. :shifty::whistle:;)

If he ever did one I expect it to be a one and done with him getting killed off.

Downey's Tony Stark is a better Lex Luthor than we've ever seen on the big screen, IMO.
