Films shuffle around all the time on streaming services. Almost a third of the films I watch on streaming each month are the ones about to disappear. It's a great way of getting something from my 200+ watch list to the front of the line. But many I end up liking take forever to show up again. Pretty much anything I could see myself watching at least twice again I buy on disc or wait for a digital copy sale. It's licensing. In the US, the first ten Trek movies were pulled from Paramount+ and licensed out to (HBO) Max for awhile. If a particular show or movie isn't on your streaming service anymore, it may be licensed somewhere else or may even just be the result of its particular license having expired.
Too reasonable.Films shuffle around all the time on streaming services. Almost a third of the films I watch on streaming each month are the ones about to disappear. Some would say that's a good reason not to completely give up on physical media entirely yet. You don't have to worry about something you like or want to see disappearing abruptly from your streaming service. It'll always be there on your schedule, not theirs.Films shuffle around all the time on streaming services. Yeah, when I was a kid growing up in the middle of nowhere, none of the stations carried Star Trek for about four years (5th-10th grade). I had to make do with the Blish adaptations. I do remember a run of TAS, when it was on a cable channel (maybe USA Network?) sometime in middle school.Luxury! When I was a lad all we had was mental media. Had to memorized all the TOS episodes! You never knew when your local would stop playing them!
Stephen Bowie has been against streaming services like Netflix from the start. The shallow part of me wants to yell I TOLD YOU SO at a lot of people who told me Paramount+ would be profitable and good for Star Trek as a franchise... all it has done is make Trek even more niche by pulling the shows off Netflix.
pssst. DVDs. You'll thank me later.Oh, great.Better finish up the DS9 and Voyager re-watches then.
August 27th, 2024.Oh, is Season 5 of Disco coming out on discs soon? Thanks!

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Apex Capital Trust a venture capital firm has made an all-cash offer of $43 billion for Paramount which is $35 billion more than the $8 billion being offered by SkyDance.
If it seems to be too good to be true, it isn't.It’s a fake!
It's filled with worthless gold!It’s a fake!
Worst case scenario: This firm buys Paramount, strips it and sells it's IP off. Elon Musk buys Trek and makes the most right-wing shit imaginable.
