Vanguard ending with "Storming Haven"?

I think that the Sheddai will become the beings known as the children of the storm, the ones that had ridded the Borg from their area of space,

Uhh, no. They have nothing remotely in common aside from being powerful, but the Trek universe is littered with powerful beings.

Maybe this is something they should consider doing in the future with book series. Have a definate end in mind, so that everything builds up to it and is mostly resolved. This could work for a number of mini-series.

Just my thoughts.

I've never read the series before, though I may give it a bash, going by what people are saying about it.

New Frontier and Mirror Universe seem to be the only ongoing series which could come to a definative end, though. Klingon Empire and SCE have already petered out, and TOS, TNG/Titan, DS9/Aventine, and Voyager need to be ongoing. I suppose eventually those characters all have to die, but until something drastic like that happens, those series need to continue the tv shows storylines. Haven't read the newest TNG or DS9 stories, but those series seem to be on the cusp of needing some sort of 'Full Circle' like revitalization to keep their series going.

Who knows how Trek Lit will continue in the long term.

I've been wondering, was Declassified started before or after it was decided that the series was going to end. Because it seems like it might have been done as a way fill in more backstory before the series ended.

I'll be sad to see it end but I'd rather it end strong and have a powerful legacy than continue endlessly and aimlessly. And just because the series ends doesn't mean we won't see its great characters again.

I don't actually think that's a given. It's a choice that's been made to continue moving forward in time from the TV show, in a fairly linear fashion, but there's no reason you couldn't move around in time more covering different events. That said, I think I prefer it this way.

... we decided to embrace it and write the best finale we could.

Mmh. Now that there's a definite story over eight novels with a real finale, I might end up buying all of them at once. Haven't read a single one yet, sorry. The Kirk-time is just not my era (yet?).

I grew up on TNG and the TOS films, so anything prior always seemed campy.

Then I read Vanguard and let's just say I have a whole new appreciation for that era.

Easily one of my favorite series, hands down.

Thanks for the input. I'm pretty sure that one there's time for me to read eight novels in a row, it'll be Vanguard. ;-)
