Grew up in Georgia, lived in STL, now in Alabama, never heard of any of these pre-Halloween "festivities".

When I was in high school, a friend and I were walking home, and in our intoxicated wisdom, we decided to knock over every newspaper box along the way. Cops found us, and made us go back and stand them all back up.

It's actually kind of funny to think about ~20 years later, those cops could have really screwed us to the wall.

Lesson learned.
