This is just an update of my New Orleans class toolkit. The main difference from the previous version is the dorsal view, with many, many, many windows and lifeboats all rotated and drawn in. The next step, naturally, will be matching up windows on the port and fore views.

Looks good darkwing_duck1, although the secondary hull, in the bow on view, looks to "ovoid". It's just a matter of personal design asthetics though, the designs a good one.
I did a work-up on these several years ago. The filming miniatures were based off the Soviet-era Typhoon-class submarine, back when "Hunt For Red October" was really popular. Link follows:

I have a tool that looks just like this for ironing the covering onto flying model planes.
So now you're going to make a kit-bash out of a kit-bashing tool?
Seriously, though, I've never been fond of the 'arrowhead' look for Federation ships, particularly SFB's variety. I know what they're going for, but the aesthetic never looks right to me.

Actually, this was an early and aborted attempt at drawing LUG's 'Hellespont' class, which was actually impossible to do given the dimensions indicated. I kept the art for an eventual redo...

The only thing I'd do differently is I'd make the torpedo pod a little bigger and rounder and put the tubes on the outer periphery of the pod, to make room for the navi-deflector dish in the middle.
Did anyone ever experiment with other "saucer" shapes?
It would be neat to see a TMP-era evolution of the Daedalus, with mini-linear warp nacelles and recessed dish, for one thing.
Another idea would be a "square" saucer section, that blends tapered curves with square designs. Yet another idea would be a hexagonal primary hull like a TMP precusor to Forbin's VAL'WALO.
One idea I'm surprised that fanon designs have not picked up on: a Federation light cruiser prototype that heavily borrows from Klingon design. Imagine a TMP cruiser design where the saucer becomes more like a hammerhead, with the shape distorted. Maybe instead of a central "core" arrangement for the decks, maybe this saucer's decks would have more than one core/axis. Call this prototype the War Cloud class, and say only one was built, but they engineers had structural problems with it.
War Cloud's aft hull could have a configuration like a cross between Belknap's secondary hull and Miranda/Reliant's aft section. War Cloud could use standard linear warp nacelles, and have a navi-deflector dish situated on the top-forward of the aft hull.
Well, I wanted to keep the 'stock' parts together. The torpedo pod up top is actually from a commercially available kit-bashing set. Also, the dish being on the spindle has a smidge of precedent.
I think Aridas has done a lot of with the spheres. Certainly the Star Fleet Museum has. In my view, when I see the sphere ships, I no longer think of them as 'Federation', so I don't tend to use them.
Indeed, the saucer is a defining aspect of a Federation ship. The more you veer from it, the less like Star Trek the ship seems.
