Bloodshot was the character I had hoped would lead the VALIANT Movie Universe. He's fully of many angles to play off of for further introductions. Sure the 90's version was a little less realized and I don't fault someone for thinking a bit lesser of that incarnation, fun as it was. The character has been amped up since the '12 relaunch and is perfect for being the first film.
Harbinger has been a great read whether it be 90's original OR the current title. It's crossover is tied to the '14 summer event and should play out great on the big screen. I'm also looking forward to seeing how the H.A.R.D. Corps are brought in as they are big players in the Harbinger Wars that is 5th film slated.

Was the 90s version of Bloodshot very different than the current one? I knew he was a 90s character, but I'd never read that version. I just remember almost falling asleep when they shoved Bloodshot into Harbinger during a crossover that happened after Valiant returned a few years ago. He wasn't quite as "Xtreme" as a nineties character when it comes to personality (in fact he basically had no personality), but his name, design and backstory were very 90s.
I think 'very' is probably too strong a word but he is 'somewhat' different enough to be a bit more than the 90's version was.
If you read and didn't fully like BS in the Harbinger Wars event from a few years back we may just chalk this up to "your mileage may vary" then.
I found the first 25 issues of BS to be a very solid arc for the character. Going from being a fully controlled soldier, to confused being, to almost a blank mindless slate, regaining a new purpose and self appointed mission to now being a blank slate as a person starting over(BS:Reborn) and where that may lead him. What choices does he make now?
Aw, I saw this thread and I was hoping for Magnus. How I'd love to see a Magnus movie.

All 3 are original characters published by Gold Key. Gold Key went out of business, bankrupt I'm supposing and their catalog was bought up by various outlets.
Dynamite Comics is currently "licensing" these characters for monthly comics.
Many hope that one day VALIANT might out right wholly purchase them from their licensing holder. Some don't but Dinesh, the CFO hasn't ruled it out IF it should ever become possible. However, these characters aren't up for movie options under Valiant's movie deal. Only wholly original Valiant characters are available. Which is why Bloodshot and Harbinger are up first.

There's a current Magnus book? I didn't realize. I wonder how faithful it is to the original. Jim Shooter's revival in the 80s was fantastic for a while, and totally in continuity with the original. There was another revival a few years ago that looked awful. A good Magnus book might be enough to get me back into the comic shop.
I'm guessing you mean the Dark Horse Magnus book, written by Jim Shooter when describing the "awful looking" one. I honestly can't recall how good/bad it was but I did read it 5/6yrs ago.
The Dynamite Magnus book just wrapped up it's 12 issue run back in February and it's a departure on many fronts. If you're looking for the standard bearer Gold Key/Valiant Magnus the Dynamite book isn't that. I will say for a variation on a theme I largely enjoyed the title. The conclusion was a bit circular in it's narrative while also being a point of a new beginning. We'll see where Dynamite goes with it, they allegedly have a Phase 2 scheduled. Solar wraps up next month ending Phase 1.
