Valentine's Day Matches! See who you got!

I do wonder if I was part of this little online match making, who would be a good match for me. Pity you can't read personality types over a computer.

Good luck to everyone involved though.

Looks like I've been stood up. Maybe the Robert Maxwell-scented body wash wasn't such a great idea after all. :(

Sorry to hear this! Maybe you could message Jaytrek and see if his partner was a no-show too? You guys could pair up!

So far, Me-Ike and myself have found these things in common:

* We've both been using computers since we were little kids.
* We both love epic novel series (Dune, LOTR, etc.)
* We're both fans of the Civilization games.
* We both enjoy classical and instrumental music.
* We both love Italian food.
* We both hate tuna!
* We both love autumn weather best.
* We're both quite easygoing people.
* We both have a warped sense of humor.
* We're both very liberal, politically.
* We both get very heated and passionate when discussing something we care about.
* We're both fans of Farscape, SG-1, and the new Battlestar Galactica.
* We're both fans of Sherlock (the BBC series) and The Simpsons.
* We both love coffee.
* We're both very interested in linguistics.
* We're both very into astronomy!
* We're also into biology, but especially dinosaurs.
* We both tend to get wrapped up in our own thoughts a lot.
* We both have highly developed moral values.
* We both eat a bit too quickly.
* We both think astrology is a lot of silliness.
* We're both fans of Tim Minchin.
* We often find ourselves in the midst of awkward silences.
* We enjoy discussing philosophy, particularly as it pertains to science.
* We're also fascinated by distinctions between subjective/objective reality (another philosophy thing, of course.)
* We're both intrigued by formal systems and how they are used for communication.
* We are both enormous nerds, apparently!

Yay, I've made a new friend. :D Some PMing with Gaseous Anomaly revealed a few things we have in common:

-We've both been with our respective partners for over 20 years.

-We're both animal lovers. GA has 3 cats, and I have a cat, a dog, 4 rats and 2 guinea pigs.

-We're in agreement that the 70s and 80s were the best eras for Saturday Night Live, and we're both SCTV fans.

-We share a dislike of reality TV, talk shows and soaps.

-We're unable to relate to music which came out after the mid-90s. This may or may not have to do with, erm, chronological maturity. :shifty:

-I'm married to a trainspotter, and GA is an aircraft mechanic. Okay, that's not quite the same thing, but close enough. ;)

-We both like the outdoors and going hiking.

-I'm a keen needlecrafter, mostly knitting. GA is handy with a sewing machine, which is my worst needlecraft, but it's still something to share.

-We both yell at politicians on TV.

-I like cooking, and GA likes eating what's been cooked. That's good enough for me.

Your cat made a good choice, Kestra!

CorporalClegg and me have also had some lively PMs and discovered much that we have in common, additionally to the things we already knew:

We are both vegans.

We both use Linux.

We are both Bronies and our favourite supporting ponies are the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

Our user names start with co.

We love the Beatles and The Velvet Underground. And we appreciate the Imagine album.

We both love this song:

At one point we've both known German. ;)

We've seen TNG in German.

We both appreciate British humour.

We both count A Tale of Two Cities and Hamlet among our favourite works of literature.

Our second favourite movie is Metropolis.

We both want to visit Japan and India one day.

We're roughly the same age.

We've both lived close to the mountains at some point in our lives.

I probably have forgotten some things but that about covers it, I think. The good Corporal might be along shortly to add to the list if I've forgotten something.

No, that about covers it. The one thing to take away here is that we both have a rather deep passion of music.

In fact, it took us several rather lengthy exchanges before we even got off the subject. And we really did. We just sort of decided that we better talk about something else quick before we ran out of time.

It was sort of like a badly written essay where the first six and a half pages all discussed the first point of the thesis, and points two and three were just crammed somewhere in the conclusion.

Well, as my on-line time for the day is nearing a close, it appears I can now post something constructive in the "Ever Been Stood Up?" thread. ;) :guffaw:

Happy Valentines Day everyone!

Well my match made in BBS is busy but we did exchange a tiny bit.. and we have in common that we both do not live in America. ALSO, and this is very important, I have always loved lizards and he is an Iguana! Isn't that incredible?!
