USS Titan in The Official Starships Collection

8of5

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
Hi all, I posted an interview on The Trek Collective today with Ben Robinson of The Official Starships Collection, the magazine and model series. When I asked about the potential for non-canon ships such as the Titan to be included this was the answer:
I think the NX-01.5 is a special case. Again, I know there are people out there who are passionate about the video games and the novels (or old FASA manuals for that matter) but for the moment we've drawn a line that says it has to have appeared in a live action TV series or movie for us to do it. There are a lot of those and it will keep us busy for a while. Of course, I do occasionally have dreams about doing ships from the Animated Series. That said, if more than 5,000 people sign up solemnly promising to buy a Titan or an Enterprise-F, we'll almost certainly do it. If anyone wants to make that happen then feel free - it's a serious offer. But, whatever you do, don't email me! I'm not going to count 5,000 emails.
I doubt 5,000 names alone is all it will take, but it's a good starting point, so I started a petition! So if you'd like a little model Titan to swoosh around while enjoying the books, please add your name, and share share share! :)

Alrighty, I signed my name.

Hope it helps. I swear these are some of (if not) the best looking ship models I've seen in years (if ever) and I'd own all of them if I had the funds. I sure hope they're smart enough to realize that certain ships will always sell better than say the Bajoran Solar Sail ship though.

I'd love to get an NX-Refit model.

Done. :)

Tell him we also need a Vesta-class to play with as well.

Oh, and make the 3-nacelled Enterprise-D from "All Good Things" an orderable instead of a premium. I'm only ordering about every other ship, having no interest (or at least not enough to subscribe) in about half of 'em. But give me an opportunity to order an AGT Enterprise, and I'll take two or three.

It would be worthwhile for you to post the petition in Trek Tech as well, as there are bound to be a bunch of Titan (and Eaglemoss starships) fans there that might not notice this in Lit.

I solemnly promise to buy a Titan!

(Oh, wait, I'm already a subscriber... I guess I already buy whatever they put out! ;))

This too! :techman:

Actually, there's a small handful of non-canon ships I'd love to have them include in their collection... too bad that based on the quote in the OP that this doesn't seem particularly likely. Maybe if they do exceedingly well and end up going past the projected 90 issues?

There are a lot of canon ships that need to come first but if was asked to pick three non-canon ones to include, it'd be the Columbia-class Enterprise, USS Titan and USS Aventine.

Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. ;)

Absolutely loving this collection.
Some of the best models have been the lesser-seen ships like the Nebula class but my favourite so far has to be the Prometheus....great looking ship.:techman:

Good news, Ben has confirmed he's entirely serious: If he can gather contact details for 5000 people who will pre-order a Titan (or anything else presumably) that's enough to get a special edition made.

If we get the 5000 for Titan, can we try Aventine next?

8of5, great interview; thanks for sharing that with us. :)

Question for you folks; I have been ordering the ships via my local comic book store as I am ending up getting only about every other one (a tad pricey to acquire them all, and there are many I'm not interested in), but for those of you ordering directly through Eaglemoss, what number are they up to? The most recent one I can acquire is the Enterprise-E, though I can order a few more numbers past it (up to but not including the Oberth). One of you mentioned the Prometheus, but I didn't know if that meant it was being ordered, or if you had it in hand already.

Additionally, I am of the understanding that if you order 12 ships, you get the 3-nacelled Enterprise-D from "All Good Things". But is that 12 straight ships via subscription, or just 12 ships ordered in any order through Eaglemoss?

Thanks for any tips in the right direction, folks.

Yep, I saw this interview yesterday and was just coming back to find the petition.

I'm down for a Luna, a Vesta, and maybe if the designs are finalised, a Merian, a Theophrastus and a Mulciber.

.

I'm doing pretty much the same, getting all the Fed ships, at the moment I have 13 of the regular ones and the two specials and will be getting the Vengeance when that's out at somepoint in the future. Any, I have no idea what they're upto outside here, but I did see yesterday issue 27 and the Enterprise Era Romulan Bird of Prey.

As for the Enterprise from All Good Things, you need to be a subscriber for it and to be honest, the one I've seen, it's not that great.

And yes, I also signed up for the Titan if and when it ever gets made.

There is a thread up in General Trek that was created to discuss the collection, I don't really follow it though, just seems to be people discussing if they got emails, deliveries and Eaglemosses supposedly bad customer service.

A lot of that is discussed but I've seen many discuss the ships they've received, posted pictures and talked about design choices (or lack thereof) of the models. I do have to admit that most of these models are very well done. For their size the detail is rather good with the exception of the 1701 refit.

I signed as well as I would love to see some trek-lit ships made. However, doesn't this have to go through the gate-keepers at CBS since none of the ships have been seen on screen?
