USS Kelvin - class name?

This is absolutely, totally, positively just me making stuff up, but:

I like to imagine that the Kelvin's starship class was influenced by Tellarite design lineages, and that as such her ship class actually has a Tellarite name. Shallash class, perhaps; or maybe Gora bim Gral class.

(I also like to imagine that the ST09 timeline's Constitution class was influenced more strongly by Andorian designs -- hence her differing livery color scheme, and her greater use of flowing, curved hulls.)

One of DC comics' "Who's Who in Star Trek" specials calls the Reliant "Galaxy class", complete with various views.

The page on starships from Who's Who in Star Trek #2 lists it as a Reliant-class.

But it is mentioned as a Galaxy-class in the text right below the picture.

That's what you call a continuity error!

My bad, and I never noticed the blatant discrepancy. But, even worse - in the comics about Spock and the USS Surak, she's clearly an Oberth-class ship!

Slight tangent, why does Memory Alpha say George Kirk was a Lt Commander when he's addressed as Lieutenant in the movie?
Was he addressed as Lieutenant? All I remember is Robau saying "You're Captain now, Mister Kirk."

The version of the script which can be found online identifies the character up to that point only as "First Officer" and afterward as "George Kirk".

^^I can't place it exactly, but I do remember hearing "Lt. George Kirk" in the movie. I'm thinking it might have been when Pike or Spock are referancing the Kelvin.

George's rank was never spoken onscreen.

SPOCK: Your father, Lieutenant George Kirk, assumed command of his vessel before being killed in action, did he not?

^ Oh. Okay then.

This may be a reach, though, but hasn't there been the occasional slip-up whereby an officer who is clearly a Lieutenant Commander is referred to as a Lieutenant?

The first part of season 1 of Voyager had Tuvok referred to as a Lieutenant but with Lt Commander's pips. They then removed the black circle pip to make his rank match the dialog for the rest of the series.

As for George Kirk I was pretty sure he was verbally called a Lieutenant at some point, but I admit I didn't check his rank insignia very closely.
