USS Grandeur - One... More... Time!

:techman: Okay... I just had to post this! And it IS worthy of posting!!

David Kleist, Deif on Okudagrams.com, has joined the project and is working on the LCARS screens for the Bridge. He does great work and, although there will be some minor changes... (drum-roll please...) here is his MSD for Grandeur-A...

Looks cool! :bolian:

But there's something screwed up with the URL. Here's one that's not broken.

:vulcan:Okay... I don't know what happened to the link... thanks. First I double-post and now the link's weirding out on me. We have storms in the South. Big storms. FIXED

:techman: Okay... without further adou, and a little elbow and eyebrow grease... David Kleist's... (another drum-roll...) Grandeur-A MSD...

I've been reviewing this thread, and I have a question: has anyone thought about doing TOS-style glowing domes for the topside and belly of the saucer? They don't have to be pure white like TOS, nor do they have to be solid light. I think it would be great if they domes were semi-translucent, with radial arrays of glowing sensor/scanner lights inside. To add a really unusual touch, the light arrays could spin like the TOS front nacelle caps, as if they hose rotating radar transceivers.

Just my 2¢.

:vulcan: Hmmm... that's an interresting idea, Wingsley. Thanks for the imput! :bolian:

See, I like "out of the box" thinking like that! Grandeur-A is definatly "out of the box".

Great work on everything to both Vektor and the_citizen! It's been said a zillion times, but this is what the Sovereign should have been.

:) Well, there are more involved now with the Grandeur-A Project. Many talented artists/designers/writers... it has turned into something pretty staggering to me, actually.

:techman: David is a perfect example with his LCARs work.

One thing Icy_Penguigo has done with a couple Federation starship 3D project (I think Stingray and the new X-cruiser) is to distort the front nacelle domes into a semi-egg shape. Maybe this technique could be used for the saucer domes for a little added effect. It would add a little room to the dome if you decide to try the rotating lights thing I suggested earlier.

Have fun!

I'd love to see animation of this baby when it's finished.

BTW: I agree with Icy's recent comment about the Sovereign. (Although I do think the E-E's navi-deflector dish was outstanding in "First Contact".

The MSD looks good, but to me it seems like the separation edge where the secondary hull meets the underside of saucer should end a bit further forward. In other words, it looks like the secondary hull's "head" should be longer when compared to the mesh.

^I think you're right. On the mesh, it ends directly aft of the sensor dome. It looks like the MSD lines it up with that inset further back.

:bolian:Well, thanks for all the kind compliments! I know there are little things to correct, but this is pretty close... aside from Vektor changing something unforeseen somewhere down the road.

David Kleist has now done a labeled version of the MSD... and this is nearly correct as far as the rooms go. Since y'all liked the regular MSD, this one is just as good!!

:vulcan:Let's see if you can find the "easter-egg" in-joke.

The Crystal Star Globe Lounge is the lounge on Grandeur, what is 10 forward to the Enterprise. That is the short version. A longer explination on the name is available should anybody be interested.
