USS Enterprise NCC-1701

TIT- Oh, wait. I'll take a chance there might be an actual topic here.

This one will probably see 3 films before its number is up but, the Excelsior will never be a "star" attraction in any film after. Perhaps an Excelsior Class: Enterprise A.

To be honest, I've wondered myself where the actual ships will go and how the history will be altered. For instance, the new Enterprise looks amazing, and so far it seems is launched after when it should have been, which means the technology is greater.

So things keep running through my mind, like; Will Kirk be killed on board of the Enterprise-B? As the original Enterprise was 10 or so years late, wouldn't it be logical to assume all subsequent vessels will be launched later? And thus have better technology? Will the film Generations actually happen (heres hoping it won't) as the Enterprise-B wasn't on hand to save Soren, which means the Enterprise-D wouldn't have been destroyed. Perhaps the E-C wasn't destroyed protecting the Klingons? Perhaps the Enterprise-D on it's first encounter with Q (if that encounter even took place) was able to put up a better fight to the Borg.

And that is why I love this new film already. It opens up so many new doors to go down.

I am STILL holding out hope that if this film is successful enough that we will get a new five year series with this crew! So I don't want to see this new ENTERPRISE blown up JUST yet! :techman:

Well maybe, I don't know about the others but I doubt Zach Quinto and Simon Pegg wouldn't want to do a TV show. Granted both have been the stars of very sucessful tv shows (Heroes and Spaced), but I know theres filming for the 4th and 5th series of Heroes coming up, and Pegg is doing a few more films (including the 3rd 'blood and ice cream' trilogy, which if you didn't know the other two are Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead).

Shaun of the dead was a CLASSIC!:D have not seen HOT FUZZ. Any good?

Yeah it's great. Not as good as Shaun of the Dead though, apparently the 3rd film Pegg is going to be the supporting character to Frost, which makes a nice change.

You know, they might end up having the next few movies take place DURING the five-year mission (which would be cool). There's no promise that they'll start blowing up Enterprises.

Personally, I never liked them blowing up the ship in the movies. I have no problem believing that new sets are just "updated" interiors via retrofitting. To me blowing up the Enterprise in the movies is like when the X-Files ended a season with "FOX MULDAR IS DEAD!!!" We all knew he wasn't, and that we'd just be right back where we started when the new season rolled out. So what's the bloody point?

The focus of these movies should be on story, and character. Not meaningless distractions such as "The ship will be blowed up!" or "New uniforms! ZOMG!"

I hope it doesn't get blown up. Period. :techman:

This isn't a prediction, just fanboy wishful thinking. After the movie (or hopefully trilogy) plays out in the Nero-altered timeline, NuEnterprise travels back in time and stops Nero before he can alter the timeline. We see the timeline restored and a beauty shot of a bigscreen-worthy TOSEnterprise, peopled with Pine, Quinto, and Company. However, NuEnterprise and crew realize they can't return to their time period because the timeline they find themselves on is not the one they left (see Doc Brown's explanation in Back to the Future 2). Instead, NuEnterprise follows old Spock forward to the post-Nemesis era for further adventures...

I know it'll never happen, but a middle-aged boy can dream...

Yeh I agree whole heartedly with you QFT and such.

I actually wouldn't have much of a problem with that.

Really, no offence, but I hope they won't do that.

Ya...me to.:wtf:

If there isn't SOME ship available at the time to save Soran and Guinan's people, then Guinan is never saved and spends eternity in the Nexus. Soran gets what he wants, but Picard's era loses a character I think was pretty neat.

Let's hope things still work out the way they "should" where all that's concerned. (At least with the rescuing of Guinan. Let Soran stay in the Nexus for all I care. There are pluses associated with that.)

Yep - the topic is how long will this ship last given the it's family history/tendency to explode/crash or otherwise get trashed.

I'm sorry short and concise questions confuse you.

I make no apology for the imagination of my fellow forumites who have taken the topic and expanded it into an interesting debate on canon, chronology and timelines.

Soran staying in the Nexus means that The SHAT can make an appearance at the end of this movie along the lines of Bobby Ewing in Dallas appearing to Pam Ewing in the shower in May 1986 after missing a season because we all thought he was dead.

That's the USP for this movie - mark my words.

I reckon the Enterprise will get trashed throughout this film.

OMG. I hope to "God" we at least get to see the JJ-celsior in one of the later films.

That would be one badass ship.

Why are you thinking that history will be radically different? The whole plot of the movie is Nimoy Spock repairing the timeline so that it will continue as is. The way I see it, the original series movies and 24th century trek will continue the way it is. In fact, the history we have already seen is the result of Nero altering the original time line. Its exactly the same thing we have already seen before in first contact.

Ill try and explain it in a "logical" way as ppl complain i cant spell and use grammer and shit.

In the original series the characters meet through events A. This led to B occurring(TOS Movies maybe). B then led to C occuring (Next gen era).

Nero goes back and time kills kirks parents and Vulcan with the hope of creating a new timeline. He hopes to change A to X so that a completely new time line will occur(One in which the romulans never approach reunification with Vulcan and the romulan empire is the greatest power in the alpha quadrant)

Spock realizes what is happening and trys to fix the time line so that B and C will still occur. He realizes however that A can now no longer occur, so comes up with a plan that will allow B and C to occur, call this A'. In this time line, all though different events led to it occurring the enterprise will be commanded by Kirk exactly as it was through the events of time line A. How they got to that point is the only thing that Nero was able to change. Its exactly like Past Tense part 1 and 2, where sisko fulfilled the role of Gabriel Bell, and history was able to proceed as it always had. So there will be no enterprise Bs launching at a different date or anything radical like that.

Please forgive my explanation as English is not my first language, anyone who gets the gist of the above is welcome to explain it much better. The Movie will reinforce this point you will have to wait till May though

Boz - you have a lot to live up to mate. Seems to me that Kirk is involved in so many pivitol moments in his timeline that making sure they all occur with one intervention is a bit far fetched my man.

Where does Patrick Stewart fit into all this?

It may be easier for you to simply give us a synopsis of what you know to be the case as a consequence of your *CHIS's?

As much as I find the JJPrise ugly, I do love the Kelvin and the JJ'd Miranda in the art forum so I'd like to see someone attempt an Excelsior too.
