USS Discovery ship design PROS & CONS

It looks fine, don't worry about.

RAMA

I personally don't like the ship design, but I could live with it. I guess they're going for a more rugged, industrial look.
The Nacelles look like superchargers from a hot rod, however, they bear some resemblance to the Cochrane nacelle design, seen in Star Trek: First Contact and in Star Trek: Enterprise, I don't know, it being set before the original series, perhaps it's some hybrid design of the Cochrane nacelle and the TOS nacelle. The pylons are a tad too much for me, they just seem... bleh...
Also, the color. I'm not a big fan of parting from the usual light gray color of the ship, but I do like the kind of brass color the Discovery has. Like the NX-01' color scheme of unpainted metal, I really liked that.
One final thing that does bother me is the main deflector. The original USS Enterprise had the radar dish type deflector, and the discovery the glowing one. Of course, so did the NX-01 and, if you consider it good enough to mention, the fan film Prelude to Axanar. The main deflector for the Aries class starship was similar to the Discovery, the Aries also having preceded the constitution class.

Tell me what you think.

Listening to fans is almost always a mistake.

TrekYard says that the producers of Discovery are changing the ship design to "give fans what they want." I think doing so can be bad. If producers read websites (like this one) or Twitter, they might often see the most vocal fans giving the strongest opinions, but these opinions are not necessarily the most logical and are probably not the most common. The ship might be betting worse. We should let the producers do their job while we hope for the best.

That ship design was a travesty. I'm pretty sure my eight year old could have come up with something better than that. It just didn't fit the aesthetic of Starfleet ships, with that round saucer and triangular body. Plus going to a 70's styple design in the year 2016 was idiotic. I hope they change it to something more like Federation ships we have seen over the years with the saucer, pylons and rounded/conical hull while making it look modern for 2016.

I rest my case...

Productions that actually understand Star Trek, but usually have inferior costumes.

I dunno, that's a fifty fifty shot. And Continues, if squinted at (especially Larry, god bless him) is visually spot on. Axanar understood what a certain group of fans think Star Trek is....
