Using cell phones in bathrooms

Over the past six months I have walked into the men's room several times and there is someone sitting on the toilet talking on his cell phone. At least I'm assuming that he's on a cell phone, if not, it's even worse.

This kind of creeps me out so usually I'll leave and either come back later or go to the men's room on the next floor. After not hearing him for almost a month, he was there today, and I really had no choice but to go, so I took the other stall and let's just say I made quite a bit of noise. I was alternately horrified and amused as to whoever he was talking to would think. Well this guy just kept chatting away like nothing was going on.

My brother has a great story about how he was in a restaurant bathroom, he's washing his hands, and some guy comes in and is on his phone and drops it into the urinal. The guy just started yelling "oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck" and then bent down and yelled into the urinal something like "hey, I just dropped you in the toilet. I'll call you later."
then he apparently just reached in and grabbed it.

Anyone ever experience this? Anyone ever talk to someone while sitting on the toilet in a public bathroom? Anyone as disgusted as I am about the lack of toilet ettiquete?

That always weirds me out. Then again, I have conversations with friends when we're both in the bathroom, so maybe I'm weird.

I don't have a problem with using the phone in the bathroom, but it depends who I'm talking to. If its someone important obviously I won't take the call because there is always the risk that they will hear my massive dump hitting the water or the guy in the next cube jerking off. On the other hand if it's someone I don't really respect I kind of enjoy urinating while I am talking to them. Haha, guess what I'm doing right now ....

At times I find I can be real immature.

Yes l thought that was funny too.
When l go into the female toliets l have never seen a lady use her mobile only after she leaves toliets.

I have spent the last three nights in a motel in Minneapolis, and there was a phone in the bathroom. What the hell do they need that for? There's two phones in the room, plus this? Who needs to talk to somebody THAT bad? :wtf:

^Only thing I can think of is that it might be nice to have if you need someone to bring up another roll of TP or a box of Imodium or something.

Seen it happen way too many times, either people standing at the urinal talking or while they're in the stall. Even saw a guy at a urinal checking his e-mail on his Blackberry - seriously, he couldn't wait two minutes?!?? If I'm on the toilet and I hear a guy on the phone, I tend to make a bit more noise. It's funny what you overhear, too.

The first time I heard someone talking in the adjacent restroom stall I briefly wondered if someone was to talking to himself.

Then I realized he was talking on a cell phone.

Okay, this is one of my huge pet peeves. And I can't even say why it bothers me so much, but it just does.

It happens ALL the time, more and more every year.

A year or so ago, in my old office building, I started rather regularly noticing when I used one of the communal restrooms that serviced the entire office building there was frequently a guy in one of the stalls talking on his phone. One particular day a buddy and I happened to be in there using the urinals at the same time, and the guy was in the stall on his phone. My friend and I were just sort of making small talk (as men are wont to do in restrooms). When I flushed, "phone guy" yells, "Hey, I'm on the phone here." Before I could even think about it, I yelled back, "It's not a effin' phone booth!" Then my buddy and I proceeded to flush all 5 urinals in sequence and left.

It was incredibly juvenile, I know, but it was gratifying nonetheless.

You really have to wonder at the sheer nerve of some people. Reminds me of the joke where the guy starts to use the toilet and his dog says, “Hey, wait a minute, buddy! I drink out of that!”

I've seen this at my job as well, and I really don't understand it. There are two guys in particular who don't seem to be making any effort to conceal the fact that their in the bathroom from whomever they're talking to. One just continues prattling on bluetooth earpiece while doing his business, flushing, washing his hands, and so on. Another camps out in a stall while people around him flush. The people on the other end of the line have got to be hearing the noises. Can your call not wait five minutes while you go to the bathroom?

You know, I don't believe I've ever talked to someone on the phone while *they* were in the bathroom. If that ever happens, I'd tell them to call me back when they're done and hang up. That's just gross. :ack:

If it rings well I'm in there I let it ring ( Ring tone is V/H's Aint Talkin bout Love,) I'll call them back when I get out,
I'm sure they last thing someone wants to hear is me droping the kids off at the pool, or playing
Concentration; Aggravation; Hang on Harvey, and Ker-plunk

Just out of curiosity for thouse who say they won't, other than Johnny of course, if you were in the bathroom and your phone rang would you answer it and just say I'm on the toilet?

Can't imagine doing buisness calls in there though, maybe if it was important and I was caught off guard, but regularly?

^No. Cell phones have voice mail, or you can just call the number back later. Nothing is so important that it can't wait 2 minutes until I get off the can.
